The physics (or lack thereof) concerning gravity on a vessel always seemed loopy. Something someone majorly high came up with. My group completely ignored this aspect of the game and just treated the levels on a vessel like in most sci-fi settings with artificial gravity. What was the reasoning behind it?

What do they say about that? The bigger the ship the greater it's gravitiational effect on the ships that approach it. I think it had more to do with the range at which your ship dropped out of "Warp" to a combat engagement speed. Then again it could have been for the story...

12. Something Terrible

A great and terrible monolith in the deep of the Phlogiston loomed before their hammership. The helm crashed and the hammership soon followed.
"By the Immortals! What is that thing?" Captain Halav stared at the incredible sight as the small wooden vessel fell into its gravitywell...

DM Briefing: The PC's, having ventured into Spelljammer Space encounter the Starship Warden, a fifty mile long, twenty five mile wide, 8&1/2 mile thick derelict (and potential Dungeon) adrift in the Phlogiston.
