I am going to be starting a Home brew Campaign, and I have no idea what to start with. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a world named Vaarluk. Named after the God that formed it. and a Continent called Thalimar.

Have you thought of a starting town yet?
Low level characters do better in small towns near settlements, where threats are lower and resources are easier to get to, but can still "shine" and be heroic, due to the rarity of leveled NPCs (unlike a town or larger city). It allows the characters to start off as folk heroes before moving up to Savior-of-the-Realm status.

Well I did some work last night, and i came up with the starting area.

The hamlet of Wildebush is surrounded by a the forest of Grayshire. Not many plants grow here it has a lot of tall trees from eairlier years as the forest began but not many new trees are sprouting in the forest. The leaves of the bushes are turned gray from the smog that the small town of Hammerfall. Wildebush is about 24miles away from Hammerfall, Hammerfall is a small dwarven city that has been digging in to the side of the emerald mountains. The emerald mountains have been named for the beautiful emeralds the dwarves have been mining from these mountains for the past 200 years. Grayshire has low amount of animals most have died out but in the forest on the other side of the crystal lake the animals are abundant. The Crystal lake is deeper than any dwarf or human has ventured, many say that this is the lake to the center of Vaar'Luk. Others just say it's a small sea. Crystal lake got its name from the many Quartz that sprout out of the water along the side of the mountains.

from what i read you have the start of what sound like great starting point but if the smog from the other city is killing off all the new plant it will start to kill off all the other plants in the area as well and if this is so the people in this area will have a hard time living there and would move as soon as they could so if i could offer some advice i would say it would work better if you had a large spill of some kind that made the ground unfertile and would start to kill off the older trees in a few years and it would leave the older trees in a state of decay and make the forest look like it was in a state of death and this is ok if it is what your going for

So a moderate band of dwarven investors have decided they need to control the pollution from Hammerfall. They have dreams of building a pollution scrubber consisting of a number of magic rings each to clean a particular poison.

They have approached people in Wildebush about the project. The dwarves would like to find the places of greatest pollution to begin building their cleaner. There is a fairly universal distrust of the dirty dwarves.

A competing group of dwarves thinks it would be cheaper to buy wildebush and remove the people of the town.

Rumors:

The pollution is creating monsters and mutations inside of Hammerfall - some of which may have escaped to the gray forest.

The dwarves have heard of a vengeful spirit in the gray forest that is intent on their destruction.

Dwarves are talking to the nobles in the capital city of buying the shire and having the army clear the land.

Dwarves want to tear down Wildebush and build a prison for the king.

There is a wonderful underground river that runs beneath Grayshire that is pure and pristine.

Goblins from another plane have found a way into the forest and they are wallowing in the pollution and the ash.

Something like that perhaps?

It sounds like you've already got a great starting plot. Maybe a charismatic villain is covertly drilling away at the emerald resources making himself rich. Just add some NPCs, create the map, make some interesting plots in this hamlet, and you've got one place of interest in your world done. However, I wouldn't recommend starting with one city and expanding. I prefer to build entire continents because I just can't keep up with the players' curiosity and their desire to explore more of the world.

Thanks for the support and advice/adventure hooks, So I think i will go with the Spill that turned the land unfertile and leaving it in a state of decay. Wildebush is actually next to the crystal lake I forgot to mention that. So it is out of the way of the whole spill thing going on.

And as for the whole continent well, i am kind of working on it...
My PC's are a lot like yours in that respect.
