I'm currently working on my own game world, and it has different countries that parallel real-word civilizations. One of these areas is called Khair al Din, and it's based on Arabic lore, mythology and culture. I need help with what monsters might lurk in such a place, the weapons found there and the common character classes there, as well as the alternate names that for the these things.

Depends on what stage in Arab history.

Are you thinking pre-Islamic, with mostly nomadic tribes and a few city states? Post-Islamic, with a proud, centralized empire? Post-WW1, with many fractured nation states? That makes a huge difference.

Regardless of the above, trade caravans using camels and other desert beasts will be important for getting goods from city to city. Scimitars and falchions will be prefered, with flaming ones being a common magic item (allusion to the "flaming sword of Islam" spoken of in the Koran). Temples will be domed structures, often containing sacred relics. Salt is a major industry; salt mines are an important source of revenue for those with the resources and organization to create them.

As for monsters; giants, genasi (half genies), and reptilian monsters should exist in considerable numbers. For extra fun, perhaps there are Egyptian-esque ruins scattered throughout the desert, guarded by mummies and other Egyptian-mythos beasties.

First of all, thanks to everybody for all the info.

Well, i'm not so much concerned with culture, as that's pretty easily research-able, I'm looking for alternate names to the classes and to weapons. Sort of like how a monk might be called a "budoka" instead in a Japaneses setting.
