This is a campaign setting inspired by several other hombrews i have read. If any material in this Thread seems familiar to something you posted somewhere, either i happened to think of the same thing, or i read it and liked it.:D

The Ship in question is a legendary vessel that has been lost to time. Stories tell that it was a massive ship that could manuever like a hummingbird, and fly faster than any other ship there is. It is supposed to be the most deadly ship in existence, capable of decimating all fleets that would come against it. This is why it must be found.

The ship is ancient, and said to be created just after the world was. In honor of the great deeds the ship performed, the people of the world named the very planet they lived on after it.

Now to the world. The Planet Argonix is a world divided. Literally. The world has been broken apart, the cause is unknown. It is composed of flying islands. They do not fly at random, nor are they spread out. They are arranged in a layered sphere, the layers are the Surface, Outer Shelf, Inner Shelf, Outer Core and Core.

The Surface

This was the Crust of the planet and is now broken into pieces, the landmasses are like fragments of eggshell, with all regular land features present. Over the eons, the arrangement of the pieces has become sort of jumbled, you could find a desert mass floating next to a lush jungle mass. The average space between masses is about 12 miles. The pieces move about similiar to that of a Rubix Cube, except a sphere and that they all move at the same time, although at different speeds.

The Cultures are all mixed, as the barrier of distance is somewhat inconstant.

The Outer Shelf

This would be the upper mantle. The rock here is full of caves, many are natural. The center of some of the larger shelves (as they are called) are still filled with Magma, And as such are somewhat unstable. You will not find any cities and very few towns in this layer. The distance between Pieces here is about 6 miles. The large number coves makes this the perfect area for pirates to hide out, The lack of large cities means less patrol ships and such.

The Inner Shelf

The pieces here are denser, and rich in minerals. Coves are still in large amount, but Cities have sprung up here to mine to rich Mineral veins. The Most common race here is humans, shortly followed by the dwarf (pun intended). The living here is extremely urban, and dirty. Dirt is everywhere here, and everyone is dirty. A clean Inner Shelfer is as rare as a a hoardless dragon. Buying Metals here is cheaper, although dangerous. Most people here are shifty and evil. Distance between pieces is about 2 miles.

The Outer Core

Next to no one lives here, except for dragons. The distance from the sun is great, so it is always dark here. The only light is that which creeps through from the core, which is extremely hot. The side facing the Core is heated to the point of near liquidity, while the opposite side is nearly frozen. The inside of each piece is hollow, the interior is Variable; it could be either a frozen waste, a searing inferno, a verdant forest or even a dark swamp. The Climate has both extremes combined, creating a habitable place for the Dragons. Due to the conditions, hunting the dragons is near impossible. In fact, the last one killed on a hunting raid was 125 years ago. Distance between Pieces is highly variable here, ranging from 3 feet to a mile.

So far life has been fine, the people have begun to flourish, and most are happy.
