| Anuvrix05-24-07, 12:33 PM | I know it's a used idea, but im working on a campaign against dragons. Here it goes: 700 years ago, during the 8th age, the mortals made a pact with all of dragonkind. The people would discontinue the hunting of dragons and make it punishable by trapping thier soul while they are still alive, and destroying it. In return, the Dragonkind would not attack any settlement. Punishable by the same fate. Thus began the 9th age, the age of Men. 55 years ago the Greatest of the Dragonkind races held council for the second time. The humans had been pushing in on Dragon land and settling there, where they would use up resources and dusturb the dragon who lived there. This would not bother the majority had not it been happening since the begining. At the council, the Dragons decided that it was time to strike back, they are the greater species, they deserve to rule. The first attacks were on the capitols of every nation. Only true Dragons attacked, to demonstrate their power. Within the first 20 years the mortals suffered heavy losses. Their nations had been destroyed, their people hunted, and their lands taken. This is when the 10th age began. The Hoards of the Mirshalk (basically my version of the underdark) swept forth, and reclaimed strongholds on the surface. All Humankind allianced together, against the massive army of the Dragons. 35 years has passed, and the Dragond have taken the upper hand. They destroyed the orbs of Dragonkind, the only power the Humans had over dragons. The pent up energy of the orbs was scattered into the skies. The last stand of the Humans is soon to come. But what of the Orb's Energies? ------------------------------------ this is the back story, over the 700 years, the dragons birth rate has increased sevenfold. this is believed to be an effect of the Orb's destruction. not known to the humans or Dragons is that the Remaining energy has been taken and used by a new combatant. Using this energy, the Anushirvan have created powerful weapons and tools to be used against human and Dragonkind alike. The anushirvan are a custom race i found and liked from the community 3e website. In my campaign, the Anushirvan have a slightly more advanced technology. (they can make lying ships) (will contnue tomorrow.) |
| queenfange05-24-07, 02:01 PM | Do you want feedback, do you need help developing certain concepts/stuff/etc., or both? |
| Anuvrix05-24-07, 04:02 PM | Mostly im looking for feedback. And thoughts on what would happen to the economy and stuff like that. |
| Holy_Beholder05-26-07, 01:24 AM | This would be really fun to play as the dragons. The dragons could take to the skies, and build cloud cities and stuff. They could use raids on the humans and the Anushirvan. The Anushirvan with their flying ships would do a lot of fighting against the dragons in the air. Also, whenever you flaunt technology it appears. Humans would steal flying ship technology as fast as possible, and a large portion of the campaign could take place in the clouds, on cities made of special clouds, floating on clouds, guided by mages who control the winds. Massive siege engines could float on special clouds, and move, and by massive I mean the kind of thing that could destroy an entire enemy fleet if you catch them off guard. Also, as another idea, a cult made up of several Traitor Humans, the elite Anushirvan Mages, and a dragon exile could begin some sort of genetic engineering, to mass create bigger, stronger, flying Anushirvan, and dumbed down dragons to serve them, as well as other horrible creatures. Politics could play a part, as the human nations and dragon colors strive for control even as the war goes on, and the Anushirvan break up into tribes, and rebellions form. |
| Anuvrix05-27-07, 09:07 PM | All dragonkind is allied. I like the "little bit of everyone comes together and G4Nk3S everyone". I hae mulled over the whole Make dragons dumber and use them before..... And i had planned to implement it, but forgot it. Picture this: The cold breeze never seemed to bother you as much as this. The cold is the least of your worries though. Your regiment has been assigned to the front. You get to face the onslaught of the Dragons. It only got colder overnight and all through the morning as you prepared yourself for the upcoming battle. Damn it's cold! The entire front line is shaking. As you crest the hill overlooking the enemy lines, you realize that you're not shaking because it's cold. The next mile ahead of you appears to be a single moving mass of enemies. Several men nearby drop their swords and run towards the forest. About 100 yards from the edge they stopped, but not for very long. A massive dragon leaps into the air from the woods. It has begun to fly after the running men. This would hardly matter, for your force included great machines specialy tooled to fight a dragon. As you flee the field you begin to wonder if any other men from your regiment survived. Your army was outfitted to fight dragons, but not that many. Where they came from eludes you, they seemed to spring out of everywhere. Within moments your force was crippled. You can hear something following you, but only faintly. You try to hide behind a rock. Several minutes go by, and nothing happens. Suddenly, a shadow looms over you. You're company never had a chance, and neither do you Complete Pwnage. Short and to the point. Dragons kick a$$:evillaugh . |
| Holy_Beholder05-27-07, 09:08 PM | Yeah, Attack of the dragons translates into slaughter of whatever they are attacking unless they are rare. And that 7 times birth rate could kill. |
| Anuvrix05-27-07, 09:25 PM | Yeah, Attack of the dragons translates into slaughter of whatever they are attacking unless they are rare. And that 7 times birth rate could kill. The only reason they have held out so long (the humans that is) is because theyare intuitive, and quickly breed. within the first few years, they developed magicks and weapons designed to kill dragons. During the peaceful years, the worship of Dragon gods increased, and so did the number of Bahamut worshippers. The vassal of bahamut was altered after the attack. Bahamut did not like the war, but the metallic dragons still fought, all dragons are greedy. Bahamut enlisted a ton of Vassals to end the conflict. he also made it so that their abilities affect all kinds of dragons. If the PCs decide to join the Dragons, which they very well could, they (at an extremely high level) will be sent to release a home brewed god. Morkeleb. The name is from a book i read a while ago. He is the child of Tiamat and the Yaun-Ti god. He looks like a yaun-ti half blood, with a serpent lower half, and a scaled upper half, the only difference is the Massive wings, and that his head is that of a red dragon. His scales are all a glossy black. He is a collossal 7 creature, level 30 fighter, level 20 psion, and level 15 shadow dancer. Big guy, Really fricken fast. He is the Dragon God of War. |
| Anuvrix05-27-07, 09:29 PM | [QUOTE=Anuvrix;12521415]He is a collossal 7 creature[QUOTE] Collossal 7 is 8,192 feet long, from nose to base of tail, his tail is as long as his body. |
| Darth Sephiroth05-28-07, 08:13 AM | Well, someone's recently watched Rein of Fire... But for ideas, Dragons could use captives to breed a hybrid race or even races for routing out the underground humans. Kobolds could make decent shocktroops if you need them |
| Holy_Beholder05-28-07, 02:16 PM | Half Dragon Kobold Shock Troops of DOOM. That could be a title of some regiment of kobold shock troops. |
| Anuvrix05-28-07, 08:29 PM | Half Dragon Kobold Shock Troops of DOOM. That could be a title of some regiment of kobold shock troops. That is actually the basis behind a adventure i've already made.:D 72 kobolds, 28 are half dragons, all are leveled. along with a ton of Dragons. |
| Holy_Beholder05-28-07, 09:35 PM | You're serious aren't you? I was kidding about that title, but you have already done it. |
| Anuvrix05-29-07, 11:41 AM | You're serious aren't you? I was kidding about that title, but you have already done it. That Adventure is actually what spawned the idea for this campaign.:D |
| Anuvrix05-29-07, 06:42 PM | One of the later objectives for the PCs will be to recruit some dragons who stayed out of the fight. I need ideas for individual quests. |
| Darth Sephiroth05-30-07, 05:17 PM | Gaining the aid of the lesser dragons could work. Perhaps getting aid from the Gem Dragons (make it a plot hook that the Gem Dragons save perhaps the Obsidian ones did not get involved). The Ectoplasmic dragons could also be on the same train of thought. The Steel Dragons are probably firmly on the side of the humans as they prefer to live among the humanoids in anonymity. |
| Viseryn06-12-07, 10:39 PM | If they choose the human side, there could be a (late in the game) quest for some sort of superweapon (a la Gigas (skies of arcadia)). |
| Darth Sephiroth06-15-07, 10:46 PM | If they choose the human side, there could be a (late in the game) quest for some sort of superweapon (a la Gigas (skies of arcadia)). Some templated up Tarrasque could pull that off. |
| Anuvrix06-25-07, 11:11 AM | Right now, the characters have just reached Epic Level. We now have a 20 barb/1 frenzied berserker, and a lvl 11 samurai/10 vassal of Bahamut. there is a superweapon, but to activate it you need to destroy an entire set of artifacts, get a canine tooth from both Bahamut and Tiamat, and find a temple that is hidden in the most dragon infested area. Its gunna be fun. |
