It is a fantasy post-apocalyptic setting. I welcome your comments. -- Londonium Arcanum The year is 1348 A.D. The world has changed forever. Just eleven years earlier King Edward III had declared war on France. The war, motivated by a claim to the French throne, to avenge English territorial losses on the Continent, and to end French coastal raids, had gradually developed into a great success. In 1346, the King and his eldest son led a vastly outnumbered English force to victory in northern France at the Battle of Crecy. Having reclaimed Calais, Caen, and other key sites in the area, Edward was poised to strike further and press his claims for France. And then the Plague came. It struck without regard to station or to piety. The noble died alongside the villainous. More than half of England were stricken, and most of these died painfully within a few days, buried in unconsecrated mass graves. Holy men, attempting to administer aid to the sick, were the hardest hit of all. The social order collapsed, temperance vanished – replaced by crass hedonism, chaos, and indifference to the suffering. Many sought answers and found them in the ancient outcasts of Christendom – the Jews. All across Europe, thousands of Jews were slain in an act of genocide. The Cataclysm followed. And from it, magic erupted. The elements unleashed upon the Earth and changed it forever. The campaign begins with the player-characters, all English subjects, trying to survive against strange magic, discover the changes within themselves, and unlock the mystery of the twin devastations in a time of near-anarchy. |
