| Peregrine_Wolf06-17-07, 01:30 PM | I've been working on a campaign for a little while that I'm going to be DMing for in a few weeks. So far, I haven't really worked out all the little details on stuff, but I have a lot of stuff done with how to get it started I'm having teh players start out ECL 5, but I'm going to go over their characters before the game starts to make sure it's not over-powered/munchkinized. The World: The only part of the world I've designed so far is a peninsula in the northern part of the world. It's snowy, cold, icy water around it etc. The peninsula is about 28 miles from one side to the other and about 12-13 miles from top to bottom at the thickest point. There is a monutain chain that extends from the western part of the peninsula to the eastern part, and it forks about 2/3 the way across. There are four major cities-3 Elven, 1 Gnome-and a few smallers towns and cities scattered about. 2 of the Elven cities are on opposite sides of a bay on the western part, one Elven city is a ew miles east of the southernmost Elven city. The Gnome city is at the northern edge of the western part of the peninsula, and has a bridge that is securely gaurded and spans a large crevisse, which leads to a tower of wise elders etc. To the east, cutting teh peninsula off from the rest of the world, is a blizzard that prevents all travel, be it magical or mundane. Also, there is a plateau a few miles east of the Gnome town, which has a large, icy tower atop it. The Plot: The party start off unaquainted. They are currently taking refuge in a small town in the fork of White Wyrm Mountains. On market-day, a few small groups of Troglodytes attempts to invade the town to steal food, trinkets etc. The first group of trogs comes from the northwest, 9 trogs. Group two comes from the southwest, 9 trogs also. The third groups of trogs coems from the southeast, 10 trogs. There will be a few town gaurds helping them if things get hairy. After the attack, one of the villagers finds an emblem on one of the trogs, the emblem looks like a curved fang, colored light blue on a dark blue background. Villager starts talking about hwo these trogs came from the "Icicle", the tower on a plateau further on up the peninsula. So far, that's all I've got. I'm probably going to have the two elven towns on the bay have some animosity over things like trade. The third elven town is a warrior camp- low level fighters/rangers/wizards- and the Gnome town is going to be a bunch of funny inventors with wild ideas. I'll try and make a link to the map once I figure out how to draw it and get it on the internet. Any thoughts on this are much appreciated, but try to keep comments constructive. |

Pick a theme for them. Who inhabits the starting village? Elves, gnomes, something else? Lizard-like mosnters (e.g. troglos) don't, IMHO, really fit in arctic settings. Is there a story behind there being troglos in the cold environment? |
