I ask because A) I have begun work on my own, and it definitely won't fit as a submitted "Adventure" (way too long) and B) I didn't know about these boards until I got interested in building my own and I was floored by how many quality homebrew campaigns there are available. I wish I had known about them before. D&Di seems like a nice way to get quality homebrew campaign settings into the hands of D&D players. If it's in any way possible to do this, I would like to see it. Posting a homebrew campaign setting in your sigature on these boards, in a thread on this forum, or in your "gleemax personal page" when that gets started simply does not seem like a way to get your homebrew out into the world. Please WotC, take advantage of the digital medium of D&Di and use it to get these homebrew settings in the hands of players. |

However, I doubt WotC would do anything like it since that is what these forums currently are for. (PS. Hurray for Illinois!) Oh wow, and the Chicago burbs no less! You're probably less than an hour drive away from me. I realize that these forums are for creating and posting homebrew campaign settings, but I'm sure some of these settings can be given the star treatment, thrown into a PDF with a few images and then distributed by D&Di (assuming that it was of a good quality). I think that would be a great way for WotC to provide some bonus content and for homebrewers to see their campaigns go "semi-official". |
| Jayne10-05-07, 01:13 PM | I agree. There are many highly thought out campaign settings on this forum, and it would be a shame to see some of them go to waste. I am absolutely sure that there would be at least [i]some[i] artists and designers out there who would help out, or at the very least contribute a sketch or two. As an added note though, why stop with campaign settings? There are dozens of races, and more than a fair share of house rules out there that deserve to be 'special' too. Either way, you have my support on this. Isn't it sort of weird that only Illinois people have posted so far? :) |

I hope the offered functionality of Gleemax (not yet started) will help us define and publish our campaigns, And some guy at Dragon or Dungeon can scan those wikies and make some sort of review of the best things once in a while. PS: Sorry to spoil your Illinois-only party :) |

| ragoftag10-06-07, 08:02 PM | At some point, 'selling' means losing control of what is 'mine'. I was approached about this kinda thing a few years back, but a low price and a total disconnect as to what my world actually 'IS' killed that (I didn't know I was so possessive of this!). The high quality of what others were (and are) doing also intimidated me. Eberon blew my mind! Iron Kingdoms and their Mechanika was just too perfect to not use. I could go on, but... To be honest, raiding these boards has enriched my game beyond measure. To me, a homebrew ultimately allows you to fine tune your world with 'off the shelf' solutions someone else has field tested. You can get back to enriching the world! |
