Castle drawing software [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-22-08, 02:19 AM I'm not very good at drawing anything other than overland maps.

I'm using the nice freeware dungeon mapper that was on the frontpage a while back, but it only has dungeon rooms and hallways and stuff, and while I could make a castle out of those rooms, it wouldn't look nice.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good piece of software that assists one in drawing layouts for castles, strongholds, buildings, and other things that are more 'architectural' than dungeons and caves.

Bundled with Core Rules 2.0 as Campaign Mapper (which is cc2 lite)

I've also got the full versions of cc2, and cc3.

Are you looking for walls, and such outside, or a game / encounter map for inside, or what?

Another good way to do maps is look in the wotc map archive and just adapt some map or another.

04-22-08, 11:34 AM CC looks like it's mostly for overland maps, but on that same website, I found Dungeon Designer three (http://www.profantasy.com/products/dd3.asp) which looks a lot more like what I need. Something that allows me to draw maps of buildings that are arcitechturally realistic...

I guess the best way do describe the difference is that Dungeon mapper is great fro dungeons because it stearts blank, and I get to insert rooms and hallways easily, but what I would need for a stronghold mapper is the ability to start blank and insert walls and doors, like a hose-planning software, except fantasy themed.

This Dungeon Designer looks good, but it's an expansion for CC, which means I'd have to buy both (for a total of about $100)... does anyone know of any stand-alone programs that work like DD3?

I'm planning to get dd3 on the first.
