I'm lazy. I have too little time. I generally don't like ready modules. Sometimes I'm creative and I may but great effort in creating games for my players, but I find myself being able to GM less and less... And for some time, I've been trying to find ways to be able to GM with less work.

A little while ago I started to think of creating a long campaign as a community -work. If there would be several people willing to take part in creating a long campaign... Everyone willing and able to create larger parts or just small non-related encounters, something big could be created. I don't know if this kind of things have been done here already, but I think that a environment different from forum would help in process. And, it see

What I have in my mind right now, would be something resembling Baldur's gate II - that's an excellent crpg if you haven't tried! Main storyline, and lots of sidetracks, dealing with characters, some parts of main storyline or just for collecting money to get forward. Of course, something made as a campaign couldn't be nearly as huge scale, as fights etc. take a lot longer time, but I'd like to capture the feel.

For some time, I've been creating development environment for such project. Or, projects, I'd say - it could be used for development of multiple long campaigns.

Some other things you might want to know - I'm currently True20 fan, and due to that, and that makes me think of conversions; I'd like to separate as much of game-technical content from story content, so with little work, campaigns could be used with any system. Second thing - personally, I'm fan of a worlds with a bit more tuned-down magic - especially magic items. I want magic items to have a feel of wonder, and players never having to say 'Meh, it's just another +2 Longsword'. This might be partially compensated with different degrees of masterwork quality. For world, I could think of Faerun, but for example Ravenloft might be interesting too. Of course, campaign could also be made less setting-specific.

Anyone interested in BGII -type campaign project? Or perhaps some campaign of his/her own? If someone gathers several people willing to create another campaign, I could create another campaign base for that.

Someone should be in charge of each campaign, joining parts and suggestions 'officially' into the campaign & coordinating the whole thing. I could do it for this first one, or if someone wants, I could give the position for him.

I'd also like to start some conversation about how to make such material as usable as possible, so GM wouldn't have to stop the game for minutes so he could read everything about place players just entered if he hadn't prepared for that beforehand etc.
