( Ladies and gentlemen, i proudly present the creation myth of the Harrow world. At the end of this rather long litany of dieties is a table, in ascending order of power, for the gods and their domains. Enjoy the read, it lined up better in word!)

The Origin of the Harrow Gods or the Dual Theology of Sophia and Sammael

In the Beginning, there was the All Mother, and not much else.
Being the All Mother, Danu Majora took of herself and created
Two children: Sophia of the light and Sammael of the dark.
And so light and darkness was created where there was once void.
Her birthing ended and Danu Majora, Mother of All, left us.

First there was Sophia, the Daughter of the God, who created Spirit.
From her heart the Spirit Plane came forth, then Ether, Astral, Shadow.
She slept, tired from her work, and the Dream plane was born.
Her beauty was such that as she slept, Sammael spied upon her.
He coveted her and approached her as she slept.

Sammael attacked his sister, the Daughter of the God. She Awoke.
She would not allow him to force himself upon her divine being.
Thus, lust was the first sin the Son of the God mastered, then Wrath.
To punish Sophia, Sammael corrupted the Shadow Plane, claiming it.
Using this plane as a model, the Creator god forged the Harrow.

An unexpected side effect of Creation, humanity, sprung from the ground.
And promptly died after spawning the first children of a new dawn.
These first human deaths created Arawn, King of the dead, from the Ether.
All praise to Arawn, King of the West, and Protector of the Dead, Barrow King.
His children with the dead would rise up to become the Balfel Pantheon.

From where the plane of dreams touched the Harrow, the elves came.
And brought with them ideals of love and poetry, foreign as they were.
The Humans of Arawn attacked them quick, in the name of their god.
And so the elves called out, and Vallaketh of the Twilight answered.
The horned god created the Twilight after death for them to be free.

Dame Fortune ruled over the fate of each mortal, coming into being
even as she spun the first strands of destiny left by the Mother of All.
She was not yet mad, and her arachnid children were beauty beheld.
Led by the spider-folk, Elves who came to her became dark skinned.
Her temples were the greatest of the early and ancient Harrow folk.

The mortal who would become the Destroyer, Gorgoth, was born.
A human seer was his father, his mother a dark elf of Fortune.
Made to be a great oracle, his own powers drove him to madness.
He led a great army of mortals against their rightful deities.
Blasphemy was his gift to the world, and Ascended from Genocide.

Betrayal begets betrayal, and the Destroyer god was himself betrayed.
Damaranth, the Usurper god, struck out behind his master’s back and
Ascended in the heart of the World’s End Ocean like his master before him.
King of the Devils now, He sits upon a serpent throne in the darkest hell pit.
His legions of souls wage a war of gods-blood against Gorgoth’s demons.

The Morrigan, Eldest daughter of Arawn, surveyed the Harrow’s west.
Her birthright she would take by force, and became the Queen of War.
Her priestesses were warrior women like her who killed with the spear.
Her divine minions were demons won from Gorgoth in unholy battle.
Were she struck her spear upon Harrow; war was to be the only destiny.

Math Mathonwy, Eldest son of Arawn, surveyed the Harrow’s west.
His magic was at its height unmatchable, even Gorgoth studied him.
It was the Will of Math that the Towers of Magic be established then.
It was his seed that wrought the first line of mortal sorcerers of the West.
Even now, behind the Decree of Fortune, he still protects those who know.

Solaron of the East, bright gleaming lord of the sun, father of emperors
Did set upon the throne his only son as first regent of far off Barom.
His heart of gold led him to shield his children from the taint of Harrow.
Tragic Solaron with his love for all things mortal did not see how well
His children would disappoint him, for then they were Kings of the World.

Vaeloth the Mountain King, Husband of Shadows, Father of Darkness.
Master of undeath and tutor of necromancy; He created the shadow demons.
And much like Sammael before him, he studied the corrupting power of Lust.
With this he seduced and bound the young god Demetra, keeping her in his tomb.
Later on Demetra’s lover, Solaron, for Good, would break him on the mountaintop.

Brigit the wise is a favored child of Arawn. He granted his daughter the moon.
With it she rules over the tides of men’s hearts as well as the World’s End.
She hates foul spirits and seeks to drive them from the lands of her faithful.
She is a patron of peace and brotherly love. She loves not her sister Morrigan.
With the support of her brother god, Brigit remains free from the elder gods.

Belenus the sun god, the Brother of Brigit, is the youngest of Arawn’s children.
His priesthood was one of the most wide spread before Fortune’s Decree.
Now his archivists are still numerous, though, making sure Belenus is revered.
The lands and culture he has touched with his love can never forget him.
To this day mortals of all races yearn for his return and the light and life he radiates.

Demetra is the Queen of Growing Things and mother of the jungle peoples.
Dark skinned Demetra was once the prize of Vaeloth until she was freed.
The time in his shadowy realm had turned her skin to deathly white
But she still held within her a vibrant heart that now beats for Solaron.
Her archivists are the paragon of the amazons in the Ancient City.

Yukar the vile-bringer, father of the goblinoid races and cursed one.
Cursed by Vallaketh for imitating the creation of his elves.
Yukar led a maddened horde against the holy places of the Horned God.
And Vallaketh did strike down Yukar with the curse of insanity.
Since then, all of his Archivists have led the Goblyn holy warriors.

Lillith is the first born of the so-called Blood Gods. Her children
Hunt under the shroud of night and universally detest the sun.
Once a lover of Brigit, Lillith betrayed her mistress by tasting her blood.
Cast down into the hellish realms of the Spirit, Lillith was re-forged.
A vampire goddess, Lillith is destined to drink the world dry in her thirst.

Hakora the bard, God of Rhymes; He is known in the west as The East.
The First Dark Bard, Hakora came to the west as the adoptive patron
Of the Aswang race. His philosophies gave credance to the survival of the fit
And the law of the majority. A deadly swordsman, his blade was the lightning.
As the second of the Blood Gods, he sits at the table of the Blood Queen Lillith.

Gelsin the wolf lord hunts the spirit plane, searching for his foe Hakora.
Created by a curse laid by that dark god, Gelsin has become a potent monster god.
This ancient beast is the father of lycanthropes, beings who hate Hakora as well.
The followers of these two deities have been at war for as long as they can reckon.

Blood Thorne is a beautiful alraune conceived of Vaeloth and Demetra.
Queen over growing things that hunt she combines the best and worst aspects
Of her elders. She has called beings from all walks of life to her worship.
Flagellation and asphyxiation are her preferred means of blood sacrifice.
A rose that blooms from the places where the blood of executed murderers fell

Lem Namo. The Dark Angel. The whisper of her name brings mortal fear.
She demands pain as well as pleasure; her cruel talons flay entire lives.
A cheiftan in Damaranth’s battle against the Destroyer, she hates the demonic.
Her worshippers maintain brothel-temples in the hearts of all major cities.
She is the first erinyes, and so is the queen of them all. Praise be to Lem Namo.

Hell’s Slayer is her counter-balance. A construct formed by Gorgoth,
Hell’s Slayer is a devil killing machine. The perfect God’s blood warrior.
It commands armies of devils. Pit fiends are it’s lieutenants. It only kills.
Those who worship the Beast are righteous devil hunters and inquisitors.
This inquisition is spread throughout both the East and the West.

Hearken unto the Eternal Swordsman, for there is purest wisdom in his blade.
The Swordsman eternally reincarnates. He has walked through Harrow five times.
The last time he came, he battled the scions of Gorgoth who claimed Barom.
Though in the end their power was too much for him, he gave them potent wounds.
They still have not recovered. It is said in dying he punched a whole through the Shadow.
Daznifen the Philosopher prince of the Aswang, third member of the Blood Gods.
His assassin priests pick off the weak who infest their socieity, and lead surface raids
From the underworld. His creed is Enslave the Mortal Races. He believes this to be true.
Always looking to replace his father god, Hakora, the Aswang have taken to his worship.
A civil war threatens to tear their child race apart. A holy war is surely destined here.

Thanatos is the dark spawn of the Destroyer. Cast down to the Harrow upon a fallen
Star, Thanatos quickly let his wrath at the mortal plane be known. A wave of undeath spread across the lands he crashed into, as he reawakened the deadly vryckolaka.
His enemies are all and any other children of Gorgoth, and then his father after that.
Thanatos is the god of homicide, suicide, and patricide. All good men fear him.

Ja Ula is the false savior. His people believe him to be a slumbering god of Peace,
But he is not. In actuality, Ja Ula is the final member of the Blood Gods, a vampire
Deity. His clergy preach to the masses of Goddites as if he was a prophet of time.
He is lies incarnate. While his worshippers believe him to the perfected first man
He is in reality the first of the Nosferatu. They are his children and his promise.
