This is a brainstorm for the special raw materials I thought up for my new world. Mostly generic fantasy stuff, I tried to find a balance between the 3 primary metals (mithril, adamantium and tithonium) and keep in mind that my world will be very low magic (a secret belonging to dragons and known the world over by maybe a small handful of hermit mages across the planet). There will be no magic academies (as the dragons would have laid waste to anyone attempting to start something like this) and even clerics will be very restricted in what types of spells are available to them. Machinery in the form of clockworks and steam engines will play a major roll, so I figure some fantastic metals to create this stuff out of was appropriate. Below is the description:

Metal is abundant in the world. Smithing is major industry in the mountainous regions where many mines pump out tons of raw materials to make a variety of goods. Etherite, Mithril, Adamantium and Tithoinium are all rare minerals found in this world that help make the fantastic weapons, armor and machinery that exists within it.

Etherite - Extremely light raw material that is not quite as durable as steel but has a very high tolerance to heat. It is roughly equivalent to iron in durability and weight but its tolerance to heat is unsurpassed. Fortunately it is easy to shape cold because forging it is extremely hard due to its resistance to heat. It is also commonly combined with Admantium and Mithril to make more heat resistant alloys of those metals (Adamantite and Mithrite). It is found near areas of known volcanic activity. Do to the difficulty of creating anything out of Tithonium, an alloy of these two materials has never succesfully been created.
Mithril - Classic properties of being stronger than but lighter than Steel. Generally found in forrested hilly areas of the world. It is slightly less common than iron and and generally easier to create than steel. It also can create a reflective surface that rivals that of silver. Next to steel it is the most common material used to manufacture weapons and armor. For all its durability and light weight, it suffers from being slightly less resistant to extreme heats than its steel counterpart. It is commonly forged into chainmail and ringmail, which is much lighter than the steal varieties. Weapons created of Mithril are much faster than their Steel and Adamantium counterparts.
Adamantium - Classis property of being extremely durabul metal, stronger than mithril but as heavy or heavier than steel, generally mined in mountainous regions. It is also much harder to mine than other raw material and requires an extremely hot furnace to shape it into anything usefull. Due to its durability and rarity it is most often used to create weapons and armor over machinery parts. The edges of adamantium weapons rarely dull and can be sharpened to point at which they will cut through steel easily. Adamantium armor is extremely durable but generally only comes in the scale and plate armor varieties and the occaisional shielddue to the fact that it is nearly impossible and far to time consuming to forge a suit of ringmail or chainmail armor out of it.
Tithonium - Extremely dense metal that is more durable than adamantium and much heavier. It also requires special techniques to forge it into anything usefull and is extremely difficult to mine. It exists deep under ground making it not only difficult to work with but extremely hard to obtain. Items constructed of this metal are very rare and expensive.

How about a metal that, when polished into shields or armour (or really, really big swords) reflects ray and gaze attacks?
