For those that haven't, they are metal sphere-cages that roll through the earth for quick transportation. You can strap in one or two medium, and up to 4 small sized humanoids into them, and quickly transport entire parties this way. They have special stations for boarding, but they are few and far between. However, it is a popular way for traveling for continent to continent. I added these into my world as an easy way for the party to get here-to-there without wasting spells or massive amounts of money on seafaring for higher-level characters. My question is, what kind of checks should be made, and what DC(DEX for manuvering? INT for navagating? STR for moving?), would any skills help(worth making a new skill?), and what should happen if they fail the check? |

It shouldn't really be any more dangerous than riding on a train, or nobody would do it, so there shouldn't be any need to roll for anything. Just like with trains you could of course 'cause' accidents if it served the plot. |
