Suzaku455 03-19-07, 06:31 PM	We just finished an epic level campaign that ended with a near tpk with the death of Lolth and my character as the only one to survive with only 2 hp left (when bear endurance ended). Since the dm doesn’t want to dm anymore and I’m taking over and starting a new campaign around level 3 in the same homebrewed world (already asked permission and was granted). It’s going to take place only 5 years after the battle and I’m thinking of having my druid become a god. However I not sure She was a NG 30/2 Drow druid/monk (Monks were allowed to be neutral) with dragon wildshape and colossal wildshape and was only 70 years old during the battle. I had few flavor ranks in perform, religion and spontaneous healer feat. I followed a sort of Jedi like code where I practiced balance, trying to seek out peaceful solutions of race and only fighting if it’s necessary and never act out of hate, greed or malicious and the practice of forgiving your enemies. I was wondering what kind of domains Radra (my character) should have, and what kind of turmoil the drows are experiencing with their primary goddess killed off? What sort of interesting campaign hooks could arrive from this? Please note that drows live on the surface but are nocturnal.
Return of the Flumph 03-19-07, 10:10 PM	I actually killed off Lolth in my homebrew as well. It turns out that Lolth has three children, who are all vying to be the next god of the drow. Civil war.
ZexisStryfe 03-19-07, 10:11 PM	Hey, Well Suzaku, first off I have to ask... you asked permission to use your old DMs world, but did you ask permission to make your character a god in the realm? I only ask because if i let someone DM in my world, and they started changing things like the pantheons, I would take issue with that. If your DM is alright with Radra becoming a goddess, then I would ask him for help in defining her role in the existing pantheon. It is his world after all and if he did have an issue with Radra becoming a goddess, being able to help define her role in his world might change his mind. As for how the Drow would react in the world without their goddess Lolth... well, there is a wonderful series of Forgotten Realms books called the War of the Spider Queen which I suggest you read. The series of books takes place in a time when the Lolth of the FR Drow stops answering her worshipers. The books illustrates what would happen on many levels of the drow society if such a thing were to happen (personal level, house level, city level, and civilization level). In case you don't have time to read the books, here are a few tidbits that might help you. - All drow priestesses could no longer get spells. they were stuck with the spells they got the last time lolth answered, and every time they used a spell, they couldn't get it back. - The males in the society could attempt to overthrow the powerless female drow. - Outside forces (illithid, grey dwarfs, worshippers of Vhaeraun & Ellistrae) could try to take over/destroy the drow. - Slave uprisings - Extensive attempts to contact Lolth made (if they aren't aware of her death) - Houses trying to take advantage of the silence to destroy other houses. Lolth was a goddess of chaos, but it is amazing how much order her presence in drow society creates. Basically without her, the drow's chaotic nature would cause a civil war on many levels. Sliversun 03-20-07, 02:57 AM	Besides a civil-war, most likey many drow may turn good, finding their lives more pleasent without all the backstabbing and murder.
Evil DM Mk3 03-27-07, 01:31 PM	I think the clergy are going to go looking for a new deity, FAST! Any deific children of Lolth would be a good place to start but do not limit yourself to the obvious. There are certain deamon princes who may apeal as well. I am not sure that Lolth's disaperance would cause an IMMEDIATE civil war as the clergy are likely to try and hide the fact. An obvious solution of course would be to do what the character did, have several of teh now cast asside clergy try and achive divinty, with lifespans like they have they may wel be some drow well into the epic levels.
ericSHINRA 03-27-07, 06:31 PM	In my last 'evil' campaigns, one of the PCs was a Male Drow(Neutral Evil)who killed the matron of his house and was planning to wage war upon Lolth next. When the majority of his followers were killed, however, he fled to the surface world and around two years later learned his second-in-command Kas was suceeded in killing the Spider Queen while he was away. This came as quite a shock to the PC.
Yakman 03-28-07, 01:10 PM	I dunno about elevating your character at campaign start is a good idea. It might be better to make that decision later--after all, she might still be recovering from the battle. the fall of Lloth would cause dramatic repercussions for their society. the churches would fail quickly, and the lesser drow gods would attempt to seize control over the flock. moreover, it's possible that other deities--nasty ones (or demon lords) or deities of the 'good' elves would try to intervene and bring converts over to their side. Moreover, the die-hard followers of lloth might be seeking to resurrect her in some manner, while others might turn to pure demon worship to maintain their power. generally, chaos and anarchy would overwhelm the drow nation, but I think it would have limited consequences on other groups--the Drow are attempting to find themselves, not subjugate someone else, and I doubt they are interested in pulling other parties into their civil wars.
