| tantric07-11-07, 08:49 PM | tell me if this has been done - i've been away from DnD for a while, and i'm trying to come up with something that will work with the rules as is... (fey here means all elfkin - sprites, pixies, etc) one continent, arctic to equatorial, elves and fey in the temperate to north zone, goblins south of that. here, the fey have magic and the goblins have psionics. it's not 100% good vs. evil - there are evil unseelie and good abgoblins. in this world, when an elf mates with a goblin, you get a human. humans, halfling and (playable) ogres are the bastard races. the "humanoids" have a small, isolated kingdom, which houses refugee population of other races (not dwarves, maybe lizardmen and birdmen, or something like that). the temperate zone has minor wastelands and mountains for separation. the humanoids can do magic and psionics, and are tolerated as a trade portal, but they are are gaining in power and technology, and will likely be crushed soon. the fey and goblin lands are not homogeneous - there are cultures, kingdoms, whole domains adapted to different climates. they are monolithic and unchanging. goblins should also be immortal, here. and, just to be different, no gods. Nature, spirits, elementals, etc for shamans and druids, but no clerics. |
| Elemental_Elf07-12-07, 03:48 AM | Sounds pretty fun. So no Clerics? What if they channel their powers through their faith? It could be the only type of 'Magic' that is the exclusive domain (no pun intended) of the Humanoids. Meaning Fey have Arcane/Druidic Magic, Goblins have Psionics and the Humanoids have access to both PLUS their own form - Divine (i.e. Cleric style Divine). |
| Chando07-17-07, 07:33 AM | Sounds great indeed. I love goblins and feys, and really love the idea. they are monolithic and unchanging. Really? So a goblin kingdom can never really take some terrotory of a Fey kingdom or other goblin kingdom? And since they are all imortals, the rullers of each land are always the same? Are they murdered/something to new rullers come? Someplace with a democracy-system for voting? If you say that the cultures and the basic goverment mode on a specific territory is likely to never change, then thats other thing. Also, instead of imortals, give they all large live spectatives like 1000 years or so. It wouldn't matter a lot to the world, but the PCs will most likely to be young fey or goblin (or "simple mortal humanoids"), and so you don't have to deal with a character with 3.460 years old that is an Rogue level 2. Either this or you could this rule that a starting imortal character couldn't have more then 100 years per character level, or something like that. |
| tantric07-18-07, 11:46 AM | true, utterly monolithic won't work there are Broken Lands between the Northern Fey and Southern Gholb. The largest is the reclaimed humanoid area (Humanoid=humans, halflings, etc) on the west coast. Races: Fey: Pixies (insect wings), Brownies, Elves, High Elves, Trollkin Gholb: Orangbati (batwings), Kobolds, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears Elder Races, native to this world: Grippli, Saurians, Aarakokra, Thrikreen (nonphysic), Dolphins Humanoids: Tengu, Halflings, Humans, Orcs, Ogres Humanoids are the unwanted crosses between Fey and Gholb. The individual races of Humanoids are more based on size and appearance, rather than ancestory. Though Tengu are quite different physiologically, it is possible for two humans to produce tiny Tengu infants. It is also possible for a regular-sized child of any of the other races to born with wings, though the child will be too heavy to actually fly. Humanoid coloration varies quiet a bit within and between the races. All skin tones from pinkish offwhite to reddish umber to ebony are possible, along with hair colors including blond, red, brown and black and textures from straight to kinked. Tengu most often have very pale skin, white or cream wings, jet black hair and eyes, though the second most common color morph is dark brown with black wings and pale hair. Halflings have pale but ruddy skins, with curly hair in blonde, red or brown and amber, blue or green eyes. Humans are more commonly light brown with brown or black hair with blue, brown or green eyes. Orcs often have a reddish tint, highlighting certain areas, with completely straight black hair. Ogres are the only race that is commonly ink black, though they often have red or auburn hair that can be kinked or curled. Ogres have yellow sclera and golden or silver eyes. These are the commonest patterns, any combination is possible. Tengu are small 2' tall humanoids with bird wings. Their waists are thin, but their chests and shoulders are wide. Their feet have three forward and two backwards pointing toes with talons, designed for perching. Tengu are born without feathers - their wing-arms remain attached to their bodies for at least 6 months. Gods and clerics: scratch the no-cleric bit. there are elemental gods, arranged in domains. the gods are not particularly anthropomorphic - humans have not been here that long. Domains: Sun, Moon, Earth, Air, Fire, Metal, Wood, Water, Blood Hidden Domains: Dark, Mind, Death The Fey have their native religion, Druidism, and have accepted the Dark Domain. Golblins have their spirit-shamans and have adopted the Domain of Mind. Otherwise, though there are temples to the various Domains among the Fey and Gholb, there is no public worship. Fey/Gholb clerics other than Dark and Mind do not fight in the War. Humans have full clerics and a complex religion - 9 days per week, one for each Domain, active churches with public attendence, etc. The elder races actually have representative gods in the Domain of Blood. Domain Sun: King: Helios Queens: Dilukla, Crepscula (Morning and Evening Stars) Children: Rainbow's seven aspects: Rufus, Ignismica, Crocea, Viridis, Azul, Punicia and Vinaquilus Prince: Sundog Domain Moon: Queen: Luna Consorts: Polaris, Orbaustrus Bard: Aurora Borealis Dancer: Aurora Australis Children: 12 signs of the Zodiac Domain Air: Father Sky Cloud and Storm: Princessess Four Winds: Counts Tornado: Assassin Messenger: Zephyr Domain Blood: Lord of Animals: Sphinx Generals: Wolf, Boar, Bear, Tiger Seer: Serpent Children, Gods of the Elder races: Hyla, Cetus, Saurus Rex, Raptor, Kreen Domain Dark: Rulers: Lord Dark and Lady Illusio Wizard: Magus Assassin: Pale Heirs: Mysteries Herald: Shadow |
