| mcwood02-12-08, 08:28 AM | I am asking the wonderful people of the Wizards forums to help me make my juvenile campaign setting. I have the general outline here, but other than that, its all yours. I am using the core rulebooks and taking some stuff from Races of Wild, Stone, and Destiny though, If you don't understand I will reiterate it for you. Gildor http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m182/BiggWood/Mapapapapatapacopy.jpg It goes as such, I have a continent that I need MAIN RACES OF THESE AREAS: Tundra: Barbarians Gnolls (Races of Wild) Mountains Dwarfs Goliaths (Races of Stone) Orcs Forests: Elves (duh) Satyrs Plains, Hills Humans Catfolk (Races of Wild, Miniatures Handbook) Desert Setians Humans Aasimar (Races of Destiny) Aasimar are to be spread across the land. Haven And I have always thought a city in the sky was awesome so I thought of the name Haven, inhabited by either Avorals or Raptorans. I dont know which one to use, I just thought a race with wings, I understand Avorals are from another plain but I really like them. I will see what people say though. As for other parts of the world, there will be an underwater city ruled by Aquatic elves and Merfolk. Dont have much on that now but their diety is the Leviathan, which guards their underwater home. Gifted(Good name?) I have made classes after mutant types in comic books and other such writings so I really wanted to implement this into my setting. Being born with a power such as kinetic control (see class Kinetic Thief (http://forums.gleemax.com/leaving.php?destination=http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php%3Fp%3D14663410%23post1466 3410)) or what I call Predator, think Wolverine of the X-Men, Fast healing, Tracker, natural claw weapons. But of course these would need level adjustments, and different attributes would have different level adjustments. Possible Backstory I was thinking along the lines of something similar Shadowrun, but backwards. So the old emperor hated magic and magic users, maybe because he was affected or hurt by it. But he ordered a complete war on magic users unless they swore to follow him and join his army or something. So the war rages on and of course both sides have casualties but the loss of so many wizards, sorcerers, and variants of other magic users were eliminated magic wasnt being used as much. So because magic is not being used by people it begins affecting people directly in the sense that the newborns are born magically altered. Thats it in a nutshell, not so pretty right now but that is the outline. All help is appreciated. |

For the name how about something easy, like the warped, or (if it is a recent development, without much social understanding) simply have the people call them freaks. As for the campaign details, for my world at least, Wrote down a general history, maybe back a few thousand yars, and started playing in it. If I throw the PCs at some wierd and ancient monster, or they encounter some ancient ruin, I make sure to think and consider writing about the civilization or creation of the beast or whatever. Just recently, they encountered a legendary pirate, with a ship that doesn't use sails. The ship has a history, and it eventually led me to add in an ancient human civilization that ended up destroying all but the smallest traces of itself and reverting humanity back to the caveman ages. From then on, technology was strangely limited, and all have an innate fear of new developments. |

If the former, you might limit them to places where humans are thriving. I see you could use a few cities. Perhaps not in Tundra (that would be more for nomadic people). Though you could have one Marble Fortress, built by giant creatures eons ago. A few oasises in desert, with some fortresses along the main rivers (Egypt, or Nevada). Dwarves are usually highly sedentary, they would have a few large cities and/or fortresses to defend against the trolls; some might be completely underground. Likely, elves might have a few Cities-in-the-trees. That could be the common LotR cities in the trees, or more like the Wookies place: cities in absolutely massive trees, where you do not see the ground and want to keep as away from it as possible, because untold terror are lurking there... In plain and hills, then you would have the traditional city-states, with some hamlets all around. |
