| Inspiru08-05-07, 10:52 AM | tell me what you think. I am thinking of running a game in which each player runs a PC in 2 parties, one using rules from Exalted Deeds and one using rules from Vile Darkness. the two parties would alternate sessions, each trying to thwart the others' schemes. (they'd need to be high-level to do any proper scheming, though) eventually, at the end, they'd meet and shake the earth with their final battle. essentially, they'd play their antagonists, and take a huge load off me, as the DM. (I'm setting this in Eberron, but I figured it should go here.) what do you think? |

If you like one side even a little bit more, you will consistantly favor that side. However, If you have a group of seriously experienced detacated RPers, then it wouldn't be too bad. I would shy away from using BoVD and BoED, mostly because they're pretty dumb. Complete divine and Complete champion should be enough. |
| Talisman08-05-07, 05:02 PM | I like the idea with several caveats: (1) I'd advise against literally alternating sessions. Run Good Party until you reach a logical break point; then run Evil Party until you reach a good break point for them, etc. (2) How on Eberron are you planning to run the finale? Is each player going to run his Good PC and his Evil PC? Talk about in-character knowledge problems! Firsat, that sounds frustrating. Second, what's the fun in blowing yourself to bits? If you do this, have each player run the nemesis of a different player. Let Bob the Paladin run a necromancer who's the nemesis of Fred the Cleric, while Fred runs a Blackguard who's BoB Paladin's nemesis. (3) I would go so far as to have the two parties start in different regions of the world. They shouldn' be literally thwarting each others' plans for quite a while. The temptation is just to great. For instance, say both are in Sharn and Good Party is staying at the Inn of the Drunken Phoenix. Now we switch to Evil Party, and Elfstrangler the Rogue of Doom decides "I'm going to rob the Inn of the Drunken Phoenix." What do you do? Logically, the Inn is full of powerful, good-aligned heroes. Does Elfstrangler get pwned? Does he get to play his nemesis, Elf-friend the Holy Rogue of Light and Bunnies at the same time? |
| Inspiru08-07-07, 10:06 AM | thanks Talisman and Delfedd, but I am still going to use BoED and BoVD, because I really like things like violated spells and stigmatic healings. |
| Optimized_Commoner08-07-07, 10:41 AM | It's an intriguing idea but honestly I don't think it'll work very well. Still if you manage to get it running, let us know how you managed it. |
