I think an initiation fee followed by a small monthly dues.Failure to pay dues three months running results in dismissal from guild office and possible reprissals.RANDOM THOUGHTS.

Now this looks like a job for "GOOGLE!"

Just do a search for "function of Medieval Guilds" and see what comes up.

In my own fact-finding excursions, I seem to recall that Guilds had a number of functions. In terms of modern day, you can probably equate them with the Unions of today.

Membership into a guild had many perks and it did require payment of a fee upfront as well as monthly dues. Some of the things a guild did (that I can remember off the top of my head) include:

- regulation of number of practitioneers
- arbitration among members
- retirement benefits
- death benefits for widows and heirs
- establishment of common standards and practices within field
- opportunity for practitioneers to meet and mingle

In addition to normal guilds you could consider a political guild based on something like a political party?Republican,Democrat,Socialist,Comm unist and a host of others? You could have "ethnic" guilds like the Jewish defence league or the italian anti-defamation front? The more you donate your time and money the further you go in a political party?RANDOM THOUGHTS
