| Octavian_503-21-07, 07:11 PM | Just like it says. I'm wondering how we could convert Hecatomb into a d20 Modern game. |
| KeshFerrar03-21-07, 07:37 PM | Take d20 Modern, add a touch of old WoD (for dark spicy flavor), a heaping helping of cults, and mound of newly statted baddies. Cover tightly, let simmer untill it almost boils over, and play. Smart remarks aside -- don't you just need to stat up the cards as monsters? Would you be playing as a cultist or a faction trying to stop the various cults? |
| Octavian_503-21-07, 07:48 PM | That's what I was thinking. Would the PCs be against the Endbringers, or one of them? The last one could prove interesting, as at the very end, they'd have to fight each other. But anyone else got anything to help? |
| KeshFerrar03-21-07, 08:27 PM | I think playing a deranged cultist may be a bit too much for many players. Although people do play vampires... I'd have it set on the brink of the End Times. Some classics are: - A secret society dedicated to stopping the various evil influneces - Normal cops/military trying to stop an strange "outbreak" - Heaven steps in and sends their own champions to earth You have chances for Spawn-esque, Doom-ish, Parasite Eve, Hellboy, and many more. |
| Octavian_503-22-07, 04:11 PM | My usual playerbase could handle it. One of their characters is a cannibal who thinks he's Julius Ceasar. |
| Octavian_503-24-07, 07:48 PM | :bump: |
| Prak, the Mad03-25-07, 08:19 PM | already did a lot of this myself, look on the d20 horror boards. found it (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=670540) |
| Octavian_503-26-07, 04:07 PM | Looks good Prak. Now all I have to do is mold it to d20 Modern!!! |
| Prak, the Mad03-26-07, 11:56 PM | shouldn't take too much work, I designed it with all settings in mind, about the only thing you need to do is work out action points |
| Octavian_503-27-07, 08:17 PM | Yeah...you think anyone here would enjoy playing as a deranged cultist out to destroy the world? |
| yellowdingo03-28-07, 07:21 AM | Yeah...you think anyone here would enjoy playing as a deranged cultist out to destroy the world? Depends on whether The Church of Sacrifice can employ suicide Bombers with Fireball Gems... "My beloved bretheren... this night you go into the city with a gem of hope. This night you go to strike a blow for the church of Sacrifice. Finally we will rid this city of its dens of iniquity and depravity and vice. This night you will take up the Tears of Sacrifice and carry them into the inns and taverns of this corrupt city and through sacrifice purify." Highpriest Thurn looks around at the five hundred suicide bombers and gives them his blessing. |
| Prak, the Mad03-28-07, 12:06 PM | ironic that that supposed quote is very much something corruption would say... and yes, I would love to play in a hecatomb game. |
| Octavian_503-28-07, 04:09 PM | All right. Just lemme tinker a bit, and I'll have it up. By the way, how would this work? Don't all Endbringers have to beat each other down in the end? |
| Yakman03-28-07, 04:30 PM | By the way, how would this work? Don't all Endbringers have to beat each other down in the end? They certainly are trying to do that--problem is that it's really, really hard. |
| Prak, the Mad03-28-07, 04:51 PM | yeah, that's what kept me from ever running a game... however, there's nothing saying there couldn't be a cabal of endbringers 'willing' to share the power they would get from ending the world... |
| Yakman03-28-07, 05:11 PM | yeah, that's what kept me from ever running a game... however, there's nothing saying there couldn't be a cabal of endbringers 'willing' to share the power they would get from ending the world... Well, it would just be a game without a fixed 'end'.. Which is what most RPG games are. You beat a particular cult plot, but there's always another endbringer, and there's always bigger abominations, etc.. |
| Octavian_503-28-07, 05:59 PM | I'll set it up soon. Also, I can see how the PCs could "cooperate" until they're the only one's left... |
