| wizardofowls07-17-07, 11:15 AM | I used to have a copy of the original 1st ed Deities and Demigods which included the Melnibonean mythos. I recall there was a creature therein which looked like a lion with a vulture's head. I want to think that it was called a chaos beast. Is this correct? Also, somewhere in that book there was a creature with a dog's body and a vulture's head. What was it called? Any help would be appreciated. |

These beasts have the body of a lion and the head and talons of a vulture. Their beak strikes for 3 dice (6 sided) of damage and their talons hit for 4 (6-sided) dice. When summoned 8-32 will appear and serve the caller. DHARZI HUNTING DOGS Armor Class - 3 Move: 16" Hit Points: 4 dice Alignment Chaos Magic Ability: None Fighter Ability: As Monster Psionic Ability: Class 6 Created by a long dead race of wizards, these animals are half bird and half dog. They have the legs and body of a wolf hound and the talons and head of a hawk. These creatures are faultless trackers, able to follow a scent days old. They normally travel in packs of 5-30 and when fighting bite for 3-18 points of damage. This is pasted from a scanned copy of "Gods, Demi-Gods, and Heroes", 4th printing. I got it from RPG Now! for $4.95 if you want to get a copy. |

| wizardofowls07-17-07, 08:49 PM | Well, I am working on a homebrew world in which the world was blown up and is now composed of 1000 floating islands. Transportation between them is achieved by flying ships. I was trying to think of flying creatures to use in my world, and I was thinking that maybe one or the other of those two creatures had wings. Oh well... They are still both very cool creatures and would love to see them updated for 3e rules. |
