| kaizer_soatze06-03-07, 08:26 PM | Hello people!:plotting:. I am plotting a new campaign for my DM that is naruto themed campaign. My Ideas so far is there is a villan plotting to find an archaic technique that he uses to rip a hole in the time space continual and destroy exitance (very orignal i know XD). the villan is head of a elite special forces unit that is not even known to exist. Any help with this would be great |
| obrysii06-03-07, 09:12 PM | Why not use a plot similar to the Naruto plot? But maybe twist it. Instead of being part of Konoha, the PCs are actually lackeys to an Akatsuki member. They're lied to, being told that the Nine Tailed Bijuu are messing up the world, and that only the righteous Leader can stop them--but they need the PCs to help hunt down the jinchuuriki that contain the Nine? |
| Elvez4ever06-04-07, 09:28 PM | Oh my god...Naruto. Scurge of the anime craze. More of a question on what you plan to do: Are you going to restrict your players to Monk and Ninja for classes? Also, it'd really help if you gave more info on the campaign ideas. |
| joshlordofillogic06-05-07, 02:15 PM | I don't think there should be any restrictions on classes. after all don't try to tell me that Sakura isn't a caster or that Naruto has no barbarian levels. I tink a gersault format where everyone takes monk or ninja as a secondary class could work. |
| Gemini_the_Mage06-05-07, 05:32 PM | What the heck is a "naruto?" Perhaps if we have some background info, you might get more responses/assistance. |
| kaizer_soatze06-05-07, 06:21 PM | *slaps gemini* and you call yourself a nerd! |
| armeniantwins06-05-07, 06:32 PM | Its...anime. You kind of have to watch it to respond here. Personally, I only watch Blood+ and some Eureka 7, so I can't help you. |
| Brotter_Lutgehr06-05-07, 10:43 PM | I'd recommend making a custom class for this. Base it off of Psyonics or something. Number of "Jutsu Points" are equil to you con mod x2 or something. Makes the most sence to me because not everyone has the same talent in Naruto. As for the campaign idea, it may be a little hard to interest your PC's in such a cliche plot. So I'd suggest either expanding on the idea or doing something like the Hero's are sent around to collect the spirits to save the world. |
| kaizer_soatze06-06-07, 12:27 AM | Well as to classes Im using Nightscreamer20's shinboi core class but not everyone will be shinboi |
| Mindolin06-07-07, 04:26 PM | First off, I recommend using stand alone adventures for a little while, the Missions that they get hired to do. Then have the real campaign arc begin, sort of how at first Naruto and the others did random adventures such as weeding gardens, protecting the bridgebuilder, went after Sasuke, etc., until the real campaign arc was reached in Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles. Psionics works well with Naruto campaigns, so think about using that for Ninjutsu users. Arcane casting works best for genjutsu users, since illusions are much more potent in arcane then psionics. Use Divine spellcasters, mostly clerics, for medic-nin because they seem to be pretty good at close combat and healing, which are marks of clerics. Taijutsu users are pretty much any full base attack bonus classes, with Naruto being a barbarian, and Lee being a Warblade using the Swordsage adaptation for unarmed attacks, and possibly letting him take Setting Sun manuevers in place of, say White Raven ones. I must argue against the gestalt approach that you suggest, mainly the suggestion of them taking those classes. Keep those for the typical ninja, such as Umino Iruka, but most of the characters are not "typical ninja". Sure, Shino can go for it, but anyone who thinks Naruto Uzumaki has more than a single rank in Move Silently obviously has never seen him in action. I'm exaggerating a bit, but he's not exactly the quiet one. I will agree that the gestalt approach in general would work well. |
| Druss_of_The_Sword06-08-07, 04:20 PM | i like ur gershalt idea but heres another create instead of classes clans. like the monks are the hyuuga clan and the swiftblade are uchiha. wat do ya think? |
| Braekor Dragonfang06-08-07, 06:42 PM | What the heck is a "naruto?" Perhaps if we have some background info, you might get more responses/assistance. Naruto (the main characters first name) is a fish cake served in japan. Uzumaki (the main character's last name) is a variety of said fish cake. |
| obrysii06-09-07, 12:19 PM | This is how I am doing their stats for a cross-over in my Modern DnD (NOT modern d20) game: (As of the Chuunin exams): Naruto: Barbarian 2/Monk 4 Sasuke: Sorcerer 4/Monk 4 Gaara: Psion 8 Rock Lee: Monk 6 Kakashi: [Gestalt] Sorcerer 15//Scout 15 Maito Gai: [Gestalt] Monk 15//Fighter 15 Third Hokage: [Gestalt] Sorcerer 24//Monk 24 Orochimaru: [Gestalt] Sorcerer 20//Psion 20 The average levels for ranks are as follows: Genin: Level 1 - 6 Chunin: Level 7 - 14 Jonin: 15+ Kage: 20+ Akatsuki members: 20+ S-class Ninja: 18+ During the battle with Sound Five: Naruto: Barbarian 2/Monk 6 Sasuke: Sorcerer 4/Monk 6 Gaara: Psion 15 Rock Lee: Monk 10 Kimmaro: Monk 15 Kakashi: [Gestalt] Sorcerer 15//Scout 15 Fifth Hokage: [Gestalt] Fighter 20//Cleric 20 Jiraiya: [Gestalt] Monk 20//Psychic Warrior 20 Itachi: [Gestalt] Monk 20//Sorcerer 20 Kisame: [Gestalt] Psychic Warrior 20//? Post Timeskip: Naruto: [Gestalt] Barbarian 2/Monk 13//Psion 15 Sasuke: [Gestalt] Sorceror 4/Monk 14//Hexblade? 18 Gaara (Fifth Kazekage): Psion 20 Deidara: [Gestalt] ...? |
| Xavon06-10-07, 01:23 AM | I agree it should be a gestalt game, with all characters required to be either Ninja or Monk (or a DM approved Ninja style PrC) on one side (I did a similar thing with a Harry Potter campaign). That way all characters have the Ninja feel, but can be different and fill different roles. How precisely do you want to follow Naruto, and how precisely do you want to stay within D&D? Because you could allow arcane/divine/psionics all as they are, except that they are all under the banner of 'chakra' and 'jutsu'. Because there are many different way to perform jutsu, but the power source is all the same. |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-10-07, 02:10 AM | Naruto (the main characters first name) is a fish cake served in japan. Uzumaki (the main character's last name) is a variety of said fish cake. I thought Uzumaki translated to something like "spiral", like the horror manga and movie of the same name (in it a town is basically attacked by plague of spirals. It's not pretty.). |

| kaizer_soatze06-10-07, 12:14 PM | These are the classes The three shinobi that are in the party... http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=356723 Me 11shinobi/5sharigan/5demonhost other guy 11shinobi/5jyuukengrandmaster/5 cursed sealer anothrer other guy... 15 shinobi.... then the other classes are all PHB for like 5 or seven people |
| Mindolin06-10-07, 10:27 PM | I still disagree with the idea of forcing them to gestalt with a monk or ninja type class. Maybe have a house rule where they get an extra 2-4 class skills, based on what they learned in the academy, or just grant Hide, Move Silently, Survival, and maybe one other as class skills. Add an extra skill point in, multiplied at first, and that takes care of the skills. perhaps give everyone Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat, since they all pretty much seem to know at least the basics of unarmed combat, even if they commonly use other weapons as well, such as Asuma's trench knives, the kunai, or Zabuza's zanbatou. Perhaps houseruling unarmed strikes to be more dangerous, with 1d4 nonlethal damage as the base damage, and increasing the Monk's unarmed strike damage by 1 die to show this. |

| Nephallim06-11-07, 09:50 PM | Disposable Hero's Psionic Naruto Builds may be some help here. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=589061 My personal advice is to have everyone be a gestalt x/pionic class...but I sorta cringe at using gestalt. Way to many ways to abuse it. |
