| bloodtalon07-12-07, 05:40 PM | my group decided to split up due to gaming styles the first is more action and less roleplay so they really dont care about plot just pointing them in the right direction and letting them kill stuff is what they love to do. not too surprising they are 5 guys with the ages of 15 threw 22. the second group consists of three girls who could just roleplay with no combat and love it.and they are the ones who want some type of plot. the groups consists of the following,,, all 1st level half elven female Bard human female Beguiler human female Aristocrat the back story to them is that the aristocrat is the niece of the baroness of a good size town around 6 or 7 thousand people and she and her ladies in waiting decide they are board with the noble life and sneaks into town for some fun. i have the first couple sessions mapped out 1) is haveing them sneak out of the castle and into the town 2) is haveing them explore the town and maybe get in trouble in a slum area bar and "get rescued" by an ex soldier of the "princesses" aunt 3) is haveing them either listen to the help from the previouse session and go to his hang out and see how the ex soliders live and work, or explore some more , or go out to the country estate for some hunting my promblem after that i am gonna need something of substance to keep the story going and don't want to use a thieves guild as a major advasary or a cult and other ideals that will help out thanks in advance |
| Tim448807-12-07, 07:49 PM | They could get sucked back into the noble life. Maybe a feud with another noble house, maybe having to negotiate with another nation, something like that. If they want to stick out of it, perhaps they have to evade agents trying to bring them back who think that they're in danger. The agents aren't trying to kill them or anything, just find them - they honestly think the girls have been kidnapped. Maybe I'll think of more later. Sorry I've got so little. |

| bloodtalon07-14-07, 01:25 PM | we just did the first session and i kinda wanted to know if this ever happened to anyoneelse thier first encounter was with 1 and i repeat 1 dire rat first round the rat scores a hit on the begulier and she wounded the 3 ladies can not seem to hit the rat the second round with me feeling not so mean so i picked on the aristocrate and she gets hit and almost out and they barely was able to kill it has anyone have it where a simple easy creature almost takes out a party when i was put there as a joke |
| uglykitten07-14-07, 05:35 PM | These sound like the kind of girls who want an action adventure where they just don't know what's gonna happen. I've got a few ideas. A rivaling nation hears that they have left the safety of their castle, and find an NPC to follow them. Instead of the typical hack-n-slash villain who wants the noble ladies dead, have a male NPC join the party under the assumption of kidnapping them by befriending them. Make this person be Ranger or Druid with a particularly cute Animal Companion. If you happen to know one of the girl's favorite animals, pick that. (I seem to recall a lot of girls like cute kitty cats and puppy dogs =P. I am female, but I tend to prefer animals that can bite.) That's one route. Another is have a group of assassins after the aristocrat. Assassin +Aristocrat=Love Interest. I'm not fond of that idea, but then again, I'm a married woman. Another route is to have a peasant NPC ask "her lady" for a favor. It could be anything. Looking for a lost child (appeals to most females' mothering instincts, even my own) to finding out if that cute male ranger in the corner at the local pub is available. Anyway, during this little "miniquest" have the aristocrat find some kind of information that indicates corruption in her nation that she can fix. You've got a wide selection of stuff to choose from, so go, man, go! ^_^ |
| bloodtalon07-15-07, 01:08 PM | i will work the last suggestion in and maybe the first i don't like bringing romance into it cause i am kinda seeing one of the girls and if i do the romance with her the others might think i am playing favorites and i do the romance rp with the other 2 she will get jealouse (she is very jealouse type) |
| uglykitten07-15-07, 02:04 PM | Ah, totally understood. I made that mistake as a player when I had my character have a crush on another guy's cohort. It made sense ingame, and it took me a while to convince my poor husband that it was JUST ingame. >.< Never again. Glad you liked my ideas. If you go with the first one, you could easily work in a just friends type relationship OR have him/her completely dedicated to his/her mission. If you take the latter, I suggest having an upper BBEG besides the one he/she is working for. The reason being that when they discover the truth, you still have another mystery for them to continue on. It could even be an entire chain of BBEGs. I've done this before, with many of my PCs opponents having some link to BBEGs. Maybe some small ruling on the aristocrat's mother's part majorly effected a dragon at one point. Most girls either like dragons or don't like them. Using monsters that people are familiar with in general is better than using MM monsters that only DnD people are generally up to speed with. Adding templates makes it even more fun because of the unexpected results. |
| Forfeit07-15-07, 04:41 PM | Add a female NPC that is pretier than them, more charismatic and more rich, and make she slowly "corrupt" the nobles in the area and slowly rise in power, while they are left behind. You know, bad guys dont need orcs and dragons every time. Sometimes a good dress do the job. That will give them plenty of motivation to fight the "*****" (in their opinion). |
| bloodtalon07-16-07, 08:53 PM | gonna go into some detail about the first 2 sessions here are thier names Lady Krisaga aristocrate, Holly Kittentouch half elf bard, and Lorasys Wyvernjack beguiler Lady Krisaga gets into her head that they need to go out and have some fun at the local inns and taverns but her aunt the baroness is a little protective so they need to sneak out by way of an escape tunnel she was told about incase the keep falls. The three comes to the intersection in the castle hallway were the hidden door is suppose to be and searches the wall for a good 10 minutes before finding the switch. Opening the door they quickly rush in and closes it. Holly being the only one not raised in the keep was the only one smart enough to bring some sun rods and lights the way. Heading down the small dank tunnel the ladies are complaining that the water and mold are ruining thier new boots they bought for the trip and how they can not impress anyone dirty. Twist and turning thier way down the passage way Holly is the first to hear a fainst hissing and squeeking sound. Holding the sun rod in front of her they see a dire rat infront of them and he looks mad and annoyed by the light. Not knowing what to do they freeze for a moment allowing the rat to jump and bit Lorasys on the thigh and in the panic of having a filthy rat on her falls down into the muck. Holly pulls out her rapier and takes a wild swing at the rat and all she manages to hit is air. Krisaga swings with her rapier and bangs it off the wall right above the rat's head. Senseing the new threat the rat turns its attention to Krisaga. Leaping up it was able to take a nice chunk out of her shoulder makeing it bleed profusly. Lorasys seeing her mistress in trouble stabs the rat from behind with her dagger. The blade just manages to hit the left leg of the rat slowing it down for Holly and Krisaga to run both thier rapiers threw the body. Panting heavly Krisaga digs into her pouch and pulls out 2 of her 4 healing potions and her and Lorasys drinks up and feles alot better. After a few more minutes of trying to wipe the grim and blood from thier clothes and a bit of talking about turning back or going on they decide to go on. At a intersection that was not on the map they have the decided to see whats inside a closed door with some weird writing. Holly looks at it and was only able to read "DANGER" on the door the rest was covered up with too much mold and none of them wanted to touch it. Opening the door carefully they see a ragged body slowly rolling on the floor. Going over to see if they can help Lorasys rolls the body face up and sees it is a zombie. screamsing the ladies start to to hit the zombie with thier swords trying to hack it to pieces. But all thier works seems for naught for it grabs Holly by the foot and brings it to it mouth and tries to bite it.Lorasys kicks the foul creature in the head while Krisaga pulls Holly away. When she is freed they run back to the door. From the shadows they head some more moans and see some figures in the darkness moving towards them. Once on the other side of the door they shut the door and runs down the passageway till they reach a stone door and forces it open, going threw it they end up in the boat house of the baroness's private yacht. now for the second session. catching thier breath and using what cleaning supplies they can find the 3 ladies clean themselves up and heads into town. not wanting to be spotted by the roving town gaurds and risk being sent to the baroness for being out after thier curfew they all put on hooded cloaks and drab shirts. The frist bar they come to is called "THE LAUGHING MERMAID" going in they see it is a small smokey tavern with mainly fishermen in there. Going to a small table near the fireplace a young werving girl comes over and asks them if they want anything. When Krisaga asks for some elderberry wine the serving girl and some close by fishermen bust out laughing. Holly steps in and says a round of ale would be nice. After thier first taste of common drink the ladies looks around to see what is happening here. In a coner is a musican getting ready to play. Up by the door at a large table are 8 men looking at them and talking in hush tones. The bar tender is talking and playing a card game with a big burly man with a crazed look in his eye. The serving girl is going to and fro the vaious tables serving them. When the Musican starts to play a couple men comes over to ask the ladies to dance. Up on the dancee floor they ladies try to dance courtly style exept for Holly which gets a upraor of laghter from the tavern. After being showed how to dance to the music common style they start to have fun. Around the third or fourth song Holly joins the musican and sings along with the flute playing a folk song which some coin is thrown up on the stage. After a half dozen dances Lorasys and Krisaga tells Holly it is time to get back. Heading for the door the 8 men at the table by the door gets up and blocks thier way. Lorasys tries to be polite and nice and asks for them to leave. One of them tells her not till they get to sample thier goods. With that the others laugh. The big crazy looking guy straightens up and looks over at the action. The three ladies knowing they can't get past them back up slowly to the far corner. The 8 men form a semi circle around them and pulls out 2 knives and some saps, closing in on them. Bing the most scared and the youngest of the girls Lorasys yells some magical words and a fan of colors sprays from her hand. Hitting 4 of the men in the face knocking them out cold.Holly raises her hand says some magical words and a small red ball forms floating above it. Threating with the glowing ball in one hand and her rapier in the other. Seeing thier friends gets knocked out or killed by the first magical attack, 2 of the attackers turn tail and run. Krisaga seeing one of the men that stayed being dristracted by the minor magic show kicks him between the legs droping him to the floor. The last one falls to his knees and begs not to be killed. Holly goes to the 4 knocked out and the one with the sore family jewels and searches them. Seeing all they had was a few coppers each she leaves thier money with them but takes thier daggers as trophies. When they get to the door the Big crazy man is standing there. He bows and says "good evening Lady Krisaga." he explains as he walks them back threw the passage way he used to work for the baroness as a tracker and he knew who she was the first time she spoke and her family ring. at the door to the inside of the keep eh tells them to come to the "SMILING SKULL" it is alot safer and alot fo ex-soldiers drink there so no one will bother them like what happen tonight. Each of the ladies gives the excort a kiss on the cheek good bye and sneaks back to thier rooms |
