| theBloodyCathar10-12-07, 11:08 AM | In the new campaign I was going to have the party help rebuild a town, and recruit new merchants and workers. while still doing normal adventure. what kind of people should they need to recruit? |
| Naderion10-12-07, 12:00 PM | When rebulding a town, of course you need people to build houses. That is Experts with skills in cerpentry, masonry and engeneering, I think. Just the people who know to build houses. Also you need manual workers to do most of the actual construction. Also you need resources, so some luberjacks and men to quarry stones should be employed. Most stones of the town should be reuseable, so you don't need to much of them, but most of the wood will likely have been destroyed and needs to be replaced. Food is also important, so you need expert animal breeders and some guys who really know their stuff about crops and vegetables, so they grow as good and plenty as possible and no resources are wasted. Then you need protection. Chances are good the old guard or militia is no more, otherwise the town wouldn't need rebuilding. Four or three trustfull veteran merchenaries should be enough and they will know best how to create defense positions if any, and what types of men to recruit for new guards and how to train them. Health and sanitation might become a problem with displaced and malnourished people, so you should try to get a small group of low-level clerics or druids to handle these issues. |

They are for Harnmaster but sometimes that game system puts together some really nice stuff on the social level. http://qraid.tripod.com/Durrie.html http://qraid.tripod.com/Nothrine.html |
| theBloodyCathar10-13-07, 12:30 AM | thanks, it's going to be a small town and grow to be a large city. |
| Naderion10-13-07, 06:04 AM | That's a looong way to go. How do you intend to motivate people to come to that place? You have to get about 10.000 people I think, childrens not included. There's to be a good reason why people should take the effort to move all their stuff from their old homes, build expensive new homes, and find new ways to support themself. |
| theBloodyCathar10-13-07, 04:49 PM | it's going to turn in to a capital (the PC's are going to be helping a young NPC, that will turn it into the start of his kingdom. the area its in is going to have 4 kingdoms all with some kind of major problem. 1. the first is ruled by a devil and is associated with the ruler of the 9th hell. 2. ruled by the church of Hextor. 3. Ruled by a red dragon (in human form) 4. ruled by a merchant guild (money is everything) So this will be the only safe place for those who are good, also one of the PC's wants to be a Battle Dancer, so with his help it will be a place for run away/ freed slaves. |
