| ZionI03-02-07, 09:43 PM | How would you guys feel about the prospect of some first level adventurers starting out a new campaign by waking up to the town they live in under fire, and ON fire, and making their first task getting out of the town alive? How would you work that one out? |
| Zicka03-02-07, 09:55 PM | You would have to have paths partilay blocked by fire, and then put it out with sand or water... a cleric with create water prepared could be useful... |
| ZionI03-02-07, 10:19 PM | Nice, I like that. I was just going to use encounters as a way to get them, not to go certain ways, but go in a different direction.....with a combination of random walls of fire crashing down in their way. |
| LostMage03-02-07, 10:45 PM | They'd need to escape the burning buildings, of course, then you could hook them into running back in to get others stuck in the buildings. |
| michaeljpatrick03-02-07, 10:55 PM | This is an intriguing scenario. If it is a large scale fire (city wide) then having the PCs engage opportunistic looters, and/or victims of the disaster might make for interesting encounters. Also, loose and frightened livestock (Pamplona!) could be a fun "Wandering Monster" |
| ZionI03-02-07, 11:05 PM | Nice, nice, I love this stuff. I will definitely use the animals. It's up to the PC's to use the buildings......I know some of the bad guys or looters might try. |
| taradusis03-04-07, 02:04 PM | Consider what sort of beastie started the fire?Mephit, salamander, fire elemental, azer, fire giant, drunken wizard and etc.I think mephit might be easiest to deal with? |
| Zicka03-04-07, 09:50 PM | Go for it, sounds great! I would SOOOOOOOOOOO love to play in your mission. |
| ZionI03-05-07, 04:01 PM | Well, it really doesnt have to be something simple to kill, see. The idea is that it will be something that is, essentially, waaaaaaayyy too powerful for them to beat. It will end up being one of the main focuses for the entire campaigm that they will eventually find out. |
| Zicka03-05-07, 09:20 PM | again, sounds fun. YOu should be a pro DM |
| ZionI03-06-07, 11:13 AM | Thank you for that, I never really thought about that........? Also wouldn't know how to go about it. |
| Zicka03-06-07, 10:50 PM | If they are putting out the fire the need a reflex save to avoid 1d6 damage. also if they are near a fire make them make a reflex save to avoid catching on fire. |

How would you work that one out? "Fire, Help, Fire!" Egon the Butcher runs about looking for a bucket of water. "Oh gods, why didnt we dig that second well at this end of the town?" I'm sorry, you were saying there is a fire in your next adventure. Depends on the community. With a 61 people per acre situation, it is looking like the Great Fire of London. |

Thats a little harsh considering what oil does. Being doused in a quart of burning oil does only what, 1D3, 1d4? Reflex to avoid 1D3 sounds about right. Think you could expand this to be more than jsut a startingencounter, maybe try and get it to be 4 encounters packed into one evening. I think its an awesome idea to start a campaign GM "You are all in a tavern drinking..." Players "groan...." GM "Its on fire" Players ".... |
