How to Continue this Adventure [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-12-07, 03:38 PM I've been wanting to do this one for awhile: how about the demon Tane's presencee makes people nastier - he radiates evil and aggression.
So the PC's find more and more violence - tavern brawls, domestic violence, murder and surliness from people they remember as friendly and helpful. Maybe animals are affected too, Ride chcks suffer penalties and wild beasts turn maneater.

The PC's can spend a lot of time levelling up dealing with the various crimes, monsters etc themselves and begin to discover Tane's influence.

Then they could find that the effect is a kind of feedback loop - the violence makes Tane more powerful and Tane makes more violence. With diplocacy and RPing they could actually weaken Tane (He could have all kind of buffs from the feedback, so resolving the issues is actually a way to "debuff" the demon).

Just a seed.

06-13-07, 12:13 PM The PCs have gained some powerful enemies, but those enemies don't know who the PCs are. If they want to take revenge, they'll take it on the village as a whole. They wouldn't level it, because that would be bad for the campaign. But they might kidnap a prominent a citizen, burn down the church, or kill a few random people in their sleep -- something to terrorize the populace and make the point that they'd better keep in their place.

One question -- where did those undead come from? If they're the re-animated corpses of deceased family members and loved ones from the village that were looted from their graves, then the whole situation is ripe for a Frankenstein-style village uprising complete with torches and pitchforks. That will get beaten back, the monsters will begin terrorizing the village, the local lord will intervene and possibly punish the PCs for stirring up all this trouble in the first place, and the monsters will need fresh bodies to rebuild their cadre of undead. In short, you have all the makings of a classic, gothic horror movie in glorious black-and-white.
