| fatso10104-07-07, 11:37 PM | i have an entire adventure set up. it starts with the PCs needing to hunt down an assassin. i dont know how to get the PCs to do that though. my group is new to the game and they would be easily manipulated. any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated |

| GoriceXII04-08-07, 10:34 AM | Or a couple of other ideas: 1. The pcs are framed for murder--they have to find the assassin to prove their innocence. 2. They are simply hired by some local authority to find the assassin. |
| krichaiushii04-08-07, 02:32 PM | 3. Presuming that the person assassinated is known to some or all of the PCs, hunting down the assassin(s) becomes a matter of personal revenge. 4. The PCs are members of the local law establishment, and it is their JOB to hunt down people who destabilize the local order of things. 5. The PCs are members of the church the victim belonged too. It is a religious matter to hunt down the assassin(s). |

The PC's are the target of the assasin, who fails the first time (the opening scen) of course that begs the question who wants the PCs dead and that may add more to the plot then your adventure is willing to acomodate. 7 The PC's want to join the assasins. Hey, they could be evil. |
| LeuktheSavior04-08-07, 08:11 PM | 8. the assassin has killed a couple victims, and its left a few messages about who it might be going after next. have the players interact with a few of the victims, push them to offer their services up as protection if you think you can plant that idea in one of them without being too bold, and then during the "assassination attempt" reveal that the assassin is actually the very man they were hired to protect, and that those he "killed" were all part of his assassin cabal, and that none of them were really dead just removing themselves from the public eye so they could strike out at someone of major importance they'd been watching for the last few years. 9. they run into the assassin, and invoke his ire at a bar or something, and he starts picking them off at night. |
| Talivar04-08-07, 08:47 PM | I dig the idea of the assassin being after the PCs so here's my take on it... 10. One of the PCs offers himself up to be the target of the assassin in the hopes of catching him. So, hopefully the other PCs can keep him/her alive and in turn reveal the assassin. Of course, they would need a contact to hire the assassin and this offers some great possibilities for the DM to have the players on edge. Constantly looking over their shoulders, worried about every NPC they encounter, hell, worried about ever shadow even. You can really mess with their heads. 11. If the PCs aren't exactly good, they can always hire the assassin (I'm sure the assassin would have many buffers between him and his clients so no direct meeting) to kill *Insert unaware NPC here*. And they have to shadow the person in hopes of catching the assassin. Good opportunity for the PCs to show their color too. Will they save the NPC or let the assassin kill it him just to catch him? 12. And if they are really evil, they can try and find ways to find out the assassin's targets and kill them before he can. Frustrating the assassin and hopefully drawing hm out in the open. Or the flip side, the find out the targets and attempt to save them. Good gaming |

The PCs, in a pretty carefree town that wouldn't appear to matter, just a waypoint. they wake up, and traveling through/out of the town square see a crowd of people, going into the crowd shows them the watch is keeping people away from a body. Asking around reveals there have been others that have turned up dead (or not, it's your adventure). |
