Believe it or not, it's true. I've practicly run out of ideas for a Post-apocalypse game! That is why, my fellow d20 players, I ask you to help! I'm looking for something along the lines of Wal-Mart: PA (P.S, Kudos, Lord of the Ninth. P.S.S: Love what you've done with your place. Very nice. Say hi to J'rall Kad'ashir, that one fiend for me!). Basicly, similar in design to W-M: PA, but a tad more humorous.

What do you need, places, situations, what?

Adventure idea: Powerful wizard who survived the apocalypse in his multiplanar stronghold has hopes of reuniting all sentient creatures into one massive empire, so that civilization will endure. You must find at least one group of every race (people who survived the apocalypse have banded together for safety, usually by location and race) and convince them to head back to the stronhold's material plane area, which will be the center of the new empire. This must be done while avoiding the massive mutants who were created by the awesome arcane energies released that caused the apocalypse, and the energies themselves, some now sentient but bent on finishing their job of total destruction.

Arcanite, excellent idea. I may use that one.

Gorice, I need anything. First and foremost, though, a setting.

The most important thing, I would think, is what caused the apocolypse? Nukes? Large meteors? Aliens? Over population? Virus? Earthquakes? massive climate change?

The players may or may not know what caused it, it may not even be remembered in history, but I think it will be the driving force of creating the actual world.

Hmm......perhaps a corporate takesover? (Kudos, LotN!)

But seriously. I'd say...Rise of the Machines. That may be hard, since i don't have d20 Future. Or...a virus.

Apocalypse Fantasy Settings (you know, magic and all that jazz)

The Dying of the Gods: The touch of the divine has left the world, for all the gods are dead; killed off by the very people who depended most upon them, their clerics. Unknown to cleric and god alike, the use of divine magic leeched away the life-force of the gods, killing them slowly over the millennia. Finally, the last of the gods died and now the protection they offered to the world is gone. Crops failed, diseases ran rampant, and the very fabric of reality has begun to unravel. . .

The Dark Lord Wins (gasp!): Whatever heroes there were of old failed to stop the Evil Master Bad Guy, and now he/she/it/they/other rules the world with an iron fist, sucking the land dry of resources to further its own horrible ends. The people are starving, the land is barren and parched, there is no civilization to speak of, only terror and uncertainty.

The Curse: Centuries ago (or a time better suited to your needs) all sentient life lost the ability to read and write. Those few who do learn the secret of words go raving mad or die. The panic that the loss of literacy engendered led to the collapse of most major civilizations, plunging the world into an age of superstition, fear, and hopelessness.

I've been thinking a fantasy PA based on the 'rise of the machines' idea might be nice. Take some of the best constructs and let them loose - run by Eberron's Lord of Blades on steroids. Mmmm...clockwork horrors. Heh, always wanted to use those thingies.

Hmmm. Alternatively, how about 'Planet of the Orks/Kobolds/etc'? Characters go on a planar trip and return to a future where some formerly dumb/non-civilized creature has turned the tables on humanity. May not work because of the wide range of sentient races in D&D though.

The right way to do this is word assotiation, when I say a word you say the first word that comes to mind:

Post

--Board

Hmm, nothing there

Apocolypse

--Zombie

That's it! As usual Zombies are the answer to most of life's problems, so I give you a Campain setting in 3 different stages of the world's evolution:

The Awakening
Due to some sort of curse/elder gods arriving/bad wigs/virus 75-90% of the population become Zombie-esque, and horrifically hungry/evil. If you've ever read Cell by Stephen King you can model it off of that, or you can model it off of the Resident Evil video games.

As far as running a campain in this setting the best session would be the one where it hits the fan. Think of it your PCs are in town scattered about and as one of the PCs is buying his meat on a stick he realizes that the children that were playing are now attempting to eat the Zombiefied one. While the PC is distracted the vendor of meat on a stick starts foaming at the mouth and attacks the PC.

There would be an emphisis on survival in this one, mostly centered around eating.

Politics
Ever see "Shaun of the Dead"? If not, at the end the Zombies are considered to be "differently able" and are a minority group. I propose after the dead are a-walking and the surviors are a little more gathered there would be a few schools of thought:
-BRAINS!!!! - The mindless undead, they are hungry
-Witch Hunters- The bitter surviors, they seek complete erradication of all unliving things
-Undead doesn't mean unperson - The intellegent undead, they seek to rule forever, and this world is just to their likeing. Only hitch is they can't kill all (meta)humans because were would they have lunch?
-Vassals - The living who willing live under the thumb of the the undead masters for protection

Funny I thought I had a third, but apperently I forgot it in the past few seconds, oh well, when it comes back I'll edit the post to make it look like I'm competent.

Yes, I often use zombies for my campaigns. But I'd prefer to do something different this time around.

Oh, and SotD is made of Awesome.

How about this:

A massive arcane magic vortex/center/thingy breaks scattering magic into he winds, players must survuve in world, magic items are if not gone then REALLY EXPENSIVE. most arcane spellcasters are now powerless, but a select few who got affected differently, (like supersorcerors, but causes extreme craziness) players are to try and reunite the world and re-configure/group/form magic and start a major reconstruction to fix the world.

Disaster could have happened centuries ago and the world can have become more industrialized with the lack of magic, and people that come across magical items are seen with awe and suspicion.
