I have spent some time coming up with a story for an epic level party and I wanted to run it by some of yinz to see what you think. Im just going to be describing general story and plot line not monster stats dungeon layouts etc.

I have had the party exploring old ruins, citidals, tombs, etc in an heavly forested and mountainess area for sometime now, after they found out the area was littered with ancient building and stuff and here is were the campaign begins.

After leaving one of these places a winged elf lands infront of them with a note and 10,000 gp worth of platinum pieces. The note reads a old mage named Larencron wishes to meet with them at his tower/castle to discuss mercenary work and that the gold they recieved was only a small portion of what they could earn in return. Following a map written on the note the party comes to fair sized clearing in the woods where a magnicifent walled tower stands guarded by winged elves. They are lead inside and meet with Larencron and learn that he wishes them to find his wife, more specifically her soul inside a gem. He explains that her soul was trapped inside this gem by a powerful demon he tried to summon when he was far younger and that the devil fled with her to some remote land, he then dedicated his life to scrying and trying to find the demon and his wife.

Recently he finally found the demon in a far off volcanic region but having focused his life on the art of scrying he cannot possibly stand a chance to slay the beast. However he has been watching the party destory the mulitude of dark creature in the area and believes they might be able to slay the demon. Since he such a powerful scryer many kingdoms, kings, barons, merchants, thieves, etc have paid him very well to spy on their enemies and he as amassed a large fortune and will give it all to them if they can return his wife.

After treversessing a multitude of different landscapes and slaying countless enemies they party finally reaches the volcanic fortress of the demon and slay him retrieving a gem completely dripping in magical aurora and almost moving with a life of its own. Returning it to Larecron he is over joyed and begins to cry in joy and tells his guards to show them to the treasure keep. The party is greeted a large hall filled with gold and a door locked behind them.

The party turns around to see the shimmering walls turned into a black stone and the winged elves being winged demons. The gold becomes nothing more than coal chips and the floor beneath them falls open and the ceiling comes crashing down, forcing the party into the dungeon beneath the tower. Down there they come across a powerful sorcerress/monk vampire who attempts to slay the party. When she nearly is at death she begs for life and offers information on how to possibly escape.

She explains that the Larecron is actually a powerful illusionist who lures in others to go collect things for him. She explains that it is extremly hard to make "wolrd illusions" that can be seen by everyone but illusions that only a few people see are much easier hence the tower, guards, eveything was only visiable to the party. She was hired by Larecron to retrieve a book which turned out to be Illusin Infinium, the book and infinite illusion. The book grants more powerful illusions to the holder dependent on their level of power with illusion magic. He kept her alive on the condision she would kill any adventures that he needed dispossed of hence her being down there and all the monsters down in the dungeon were infact real. After the party explains that they had to accquire a gem that was practically moving with life, the vampire pauses completly stunned.

She explains that the gem is infact the Emerald of Life and capable of rendering the inanimate or nonexistant real...which means Larecron could make is illusions real. This would quickly raise his power and granting him further knowledge of Illusin Infinium. She belives he is aiming to make him self infact a god in due time which could be potentially be very quick. She aids the party as they fight their way through the dungeon of Larecrons tower. After escaping they charge to the throne room hoping to stop him in time but it is too late a blinding flash of light comes hurdling towards them as a new god is born.

The party awakens in a large colosseum with every god, both good and evil, sitting in stands. Boccobob stands before the party and tells them of the situation with Larecron. He has amassed an amazing army that continues to grow and is fighting off nearly every army in the cosmos in attempt to stop him from taking over the planes themselves. Even the Brood War has temporarliy stopped to fight this battle. The gods wish the party to find "Rule, the Horn of Final Words" and use it to stop Larecron.

The horn force a god to perform one command if the god can hear it. The horn can only be touched by a mortal once every 10,000 years and that the gods are forbidden to aid any mortal directly, and can only tell them where the horn is and supply them with needed equipment. The horn is located somewhere in the blackness of the outer realm and is guarded by creatures older than the gods. Should the party find this horn they then would have to climb the great mountain of Pandimonia and blow its commanding sound from the top so that it could be heard throughout the planes since it would be too dangerous to get close to Larecron. Upon hearing its call they would have command Larecron to undo his godly powers, rid his army from the planes, and restore the prime material plane back to its state prior to him accquiring the Emerald of Life. The gods would then immeditaly destroy him, Illusin Infinium, and the Emerald of Life.

PHEWWWW sorry that was so long winded but I really wanted to get the story across, so tell me what yinz think.

Ok... first off, as a constructive criticism, you might wanna spellcheck your stuff.

Moving on, as a new god, how can the monk make every other god and demon turn against him? And why are they all allied? Heironeous and Hextor, Gruumsh and Corellon Larethian, Moradin and Erythnul, Yondalla and Nerull, and Boccob (he's laid back ^^)?

And the mortals- Angels, Demons, Devils, Archons, etc?

Why would enemies like that ally themselves against a new god that they've
never met?

The plot is OK, although the commands at the end aren't just one action.

Good luck with your adventure.

well on the topic of allying themselves...it was the fact that with a gods power + the gem + the book, he could make anything reality if he had enough time to conjure the illusion and the more powerfull illusions he makes the easier it gets to make more powerfull illusions so he could for example make an illusion that an army is dead and opps now they are all actaully dead or maybe a god...

Fine I worded the descroption of the horn wrong, so sue me :P

and yes I cant spell very well thats why im musician I only know letters A-G very well :thinks:

oh btw he was a mage not a monk

Nice, imaginitive, vivid story. The grammar about made me vomit though. :P Seriously though...I had to edit my post after reading this because I spelled me as 'my', so just copy all of the information you have written and paste it on Word with spellcheck active. This will aid in better conveying your information..seriously.

Reiteration of words intentional to better get my point across. :)
