Working on a campaign for next mouth could use some help on it, hear is what I got.

Party size +4

Level of players 4

Class restrictions any class but barbarian

Races any so long as it is human or elf in type or sub type

To hear is the background world short form and hear is what i have so far

Background shot form

The campaign takes place toward the final days of a great war. Wear and alliance of men and elves are locked in mortal combat agents an vast army of goblinoids, orks , chromatic and some giants. The men and elves are at their last bolt-hole that fortified coastal city of Ravens Bluff. Using power full magic and a vast army of war forge constructs they fight off the hordes, as a stalling effort till the fleet (that they have been building in secrete) is ready to depart and try their chances on the high seas.
Were i am up to in the campaign so far

Mission 1

Is a run of the mill, the party is assembled and they are told to take and item to the wizards collage and were the arcane barriers are the dropped and they have to get back to the ship before they are killed by the horde or the Tarrasque which is now emerges form the wizards collage and starts running a much thought out the city and there will be a lot of fighting around them were they have a choice to help the war forge warriors or run to the ships and safety

Mission 2

After weeks of sailing the fleet splits off in to three groups and they sail south by south east and they come across three tropical islands and they fleet commander decides to what out the night and see what the morning brings during the night barbarians board the ship and you are fighting them off of it.

Mission 3

After a night of entrance combat, you find out that there were many women that were taken by the barbarians and your party as well as three other groups are ordered to bring them back.

And ideas on improvement ?

Kind of hard to imagine an Evil horde without Undead? Suppose sahuagin were attacking the city on a moonless night? They could also attack a ship at sea. Random Thought.

Well there is any idea that I have been throwing around that when the party reaches Mage collage grand hall. They encounter a group that orders the party to give them the item or die for they are in the servants of a lich and their master believes that his time is now, and after you defeat them and perform the task that you were suppose to do. The monster is summoned and starts running amuck. The party are forced to get back to the boat and trying well the undead and the horde battle it out for the control of the city. ?

I would consider some other undead for the BBEG ? A mummylord? A vampire with class levels? A ghast with monk levels, runs an evil monastary with lesser ghoul monks? That wat you can save the lich for later.

I working on something like that. Have a old forgotten god coming back using a half fire giant cleric lich as the epic bad guy. The god has give the cleric the knowledge to trap the other gods into a type of blood crystal. start out with three god missing. The orcs one, dwarven god, and he trap the elves god at the start of the game almost turning the land to cold waste land. Using the zombes and skellies from ebberon so they are int.

Sorry these ideas are so late. :f:

:v: Are you planning to run the city's fall as a single night's adventure?
Just thinking that you could have several mini-adventures with the PC's at different battle over the last few years. Doing the best that can against an insuperable army.
:lightbulb You could use this as a way of letting the PCs gain the 4 levels that they are starting the campaign with. How about:
1st - One year ago. The PCs are spear carries in a huge coalition army clashing with the goblin forces in a night. Things are going well with dawn approching. Then things go bad... orc, dragon, and giant units strike. The PCs' unit follows their sargent to fight through a goblin skirmish line as the coalition army is broken. The approching day saves the army (and PCs) from annilation, but the dragons spread fear and death for hours to come.
2nd - Six months ago. Dug in beside dwarf allies the (lvl2) PCs have been holding this pass through the mountains for a week. After another night attack, a dwarf messenger appears delivering a scroll to the d-commander, then moves on. The d-commander reads it, crushes it, and tosses it into the fire. "The southern pass has fallen. The northern end of the range has been over run. The Deepking has ordered that all subjects are to retreat into the Deep-heart lands.
"We're abandoning you. I feel shame my battle brothers." d-commander moves away shouting orders for an organized pull out.
The sargent looks around, "We'd better get out of this pass before were trapped in it."
3rd - One month ago. "The Grandline of forts is but a scatch in the dirt." The (lvl3) PCs fight a defensive battle in a fort. Several wave crash against the Grandline during the night. In the morning light the can see that no other fort in the line is still functioning. Now dragons appear... .
The sargent mans the scorpion and orders everyone else out the escape tunnel.

:v: 4th level for the characters at the begining of this campaign?
Seems like they would have to be at least 5th level just to deal with an endless hoard of goblinoids (and friends). But, if your sure...

:v: Surviving the release of a Terrasque is also not an easy thing for low level characters. The general/prince who sends them on the wake-up mission might say that this is a suicide mission, and/or could supply each of the party-members with a fly potion to make escape more likely.

If Warforged are in the campaign, why not make them playable?

Also, StrandO, you rock. I so want to play a campaign that starts like that. :)

You seem to be well organized and your campaign is well-defined.

I can just give you some feedback from my campaign and a few things I found out to be valuable.

1) Write down your campaign rules on a list and see to it that each player gets a copy of it.

2) List which books are being used in the campaign. Are you using any extra rules like "Unearthed Arcana" or add- ons from magazines and the like? Make sure every player understands which material may be used.

3) Define how you do Character Generation. Do you use point-buy or any of the 3d6/4d6/5d6 systems?

These are just a few but quite important aspects of a campaign. In fact, my Campaign Rules have developed over the years and I now hold a 4 page document that I let every new player read before joining the campaign. The key here is informing your players well ahead.

Good Luck! :)

PS May I ask why Barbarians are forbidden?
