I'm starting to think up a new world for a campaign and it is going to be a bit different then anything I have done before. My idea was to have a world where magic was once the entire basis of society and then it abruptly ended. To make up for the disapperance of magic technology had to improve. Magic disappeared 60 years ago and the world has become a Renaissance level of technology. Now magic has returned and the two worlds must learn to cope.

I'm trying to find if there is any kind of rules or information already out there about higher technology settings. I guess it would also be semi-lower magic, but my main concern is on how to do the rules for the technology. I know there is rules for muskets and things like that, but I am hoping there is even more information out there. Any help on this idea would be greatly appreciated.

Hm. I'd strongly suggest actually researching the renaissance. There was a 2nd Ed supplement solely for it but I can't remember the name. A number of inventions--the caravel, certain kinds of wagons and machinery and such were invented during the late middle ages/renaissance period.

If you look in the DMG (page 145) it has a table of renaissance weapons, under the clever title Renaissance Weapons". They only have a couple so i would research some on your own, but it can at least lead you in he right direction.

Nice idea by the way. I like it.
