I was mulling a new D&D world a few pints with some mates and we where discussing the idea of having Grummish and his pantheon all dead after one too many wars on the other races the other gods, Epic Heroes etc had taken down the Last Orcish Horde and their Gods.

In their place we where thinking of having the Orcish race be spiritually directionless for a while until some of the other Gods picked them up as worshippers; mostly this would be the more evil gods, but we where mulling the idea that a more disciplined chunk of the Horde (more LE than CE) where converted to Kord... his portfolio with strength, discipline and proving yourself seemed to fit an Orcish mindset.

In the years since Kord worship has spread amongst the Orcs leading most of them towards Neutrality leading to a very different relationship between the Orcs and the 'civilized' races. I am still considering what that relationship is.

How likely does this seem? and how would Kord worshipping Orcs get on with the civilized world?

I have a feeling that if I said what I am about to say on the deities and the planes forum the “UnCon posy” would decapitate me and spit down my throat, all the while screaming “If I say it, it’s canon!”

I think it fit rather well, and would mesh with orc psychology perfectly. The orc would likely remain outcast for at least 2-4 generations before any kind of co-mingling would happen peacefully.

Interesting Idea.

This creates a whole new breed of orcs.

Of course, the orcish pantheon probably isn't composed of just Gruumsh. There's probably several other deities which would gladly step in as the head of the pantheon.

Perhaps a few tribes of orcs become worshipers of Kord, while many of them worship a different god in the pantheon. This could create a giant holy war which threatens to sweep across the planes and over the world.

I can't see LE orcs leading their people to a CG god. I can, however, see numbers of CN orcs finding Kord worship and revering him as a god of strength. Over time, it would lead to a general shift away from evil in that particular group.

Maybe instead of orcs, have some half-orc missionaries go back to their godless brethren and teach them the ways of Kord. The Brawler seems like a good fit for an orc deity other than his good alignment.
