A group of my friends and I are interested in getting started in the world of D&D, but we're very interested in using physically constructed terrain and miniatures to represent our adventures. I've been trying to find sources of information for this and the closest I've managed to find is pictures of other people's set-ups, and the currently small selection of D&D endorsed miniatures. Any tips, tricks, or points in the right direction for information on building or purchasing terrain pieces to use in our adventures? Additionally I see that there is a line of D&D miniatures which can be used in the role-play version of the game, but it doesn't look comprehensive. What are others using for miniatures beyond the obvious basic glass counters which frequent many hobby and comic shops?

Citadel Minitures, the company that makes the pieces for Warhammer, makes decent minitures, though you have to paint them yourself, which may or may not be to your hobby-ing tastes... They also make decent terrain pieces sometimes, though they are based on distance alone, not squares (same scale, but D&D stuff stupidly uses 1" square=5' square, where the other only uses 1"=5'...) Hope that made sense and helped...
wizardguy2003 09-27-07, 12:23 AM	I personally use D&D Minatures, if you want specific minis just use ebay, otherwise they are random boxes. Also, you can try this group, I have some terrains from them and they are pretty sweet. Dwarven Forge (http://www.dwarvenforge.com)

pigknight 09-28-07, 11:58 PM	Also the dungeon tiles series is good, I have I-V and I have wilderness, cave, city, and stereotype dungeon tiles.
