| GoriceXII07-28-07, 10:13 AM | I'm brainstorming ideas for a temperate located port city that is occupied by a force of corsairs, humanoids and mercenaries. It is meant to be a city the pcs may have to sneak into in disguise, struggle for the liberation of and generally have as an objective/place of enmity. My initial thoughts are: 1. Predominantly human original population with roughly 7% various demihumans and 3% lizardfolk, visits by other neutral or good aquatic creatures. 2. Originally ruled by a city council, now forcibly occupied during a war. 3. I haven't yet decided who properly governs the city now but that it is the current home base of the enemy fleet as well as a force of humanoids (mostly goblinoids and orcs) and a couple of mercenary companies. 4. I want to pirate fleet to be led by people who worship an evil and disturbing sea god--possibly Dagon but if others have better ideas I'd like to hear them. Things I particularly need: 1. Interesting ideas on how the city is designed and built. 2. Ideas on what some of the enemy leaders might be like. 3. Ideas on how the occupation is going--how brutal/quiet/exploitive it might be. What business as usual means in the city now. |

Businesses will build up around that and residential will build up around that and further out where its nice. Then other industries would develop inland. 2. See any of the villain threads for advice on this one. The differences between a sea going villain and a land based villain shouldn't be too difficult to hash out. 3. I'm afraid that requires a bit more knowledge of who's occupying the city, why and how. |

Maybe they let trade continue as normal but make everyone pay large taxes in order to sustain the blockade and make some money. For villains I'd have to know what the reason this place is under attack for to suggest something. Hope that helps a little I'll check this thread later on. |

It is his fleet that mainly dominates the stretch of coast from Harbourtown to Fineberg. I picture that this area is rather rocky, with some cliffs in the area. The seas are temperate and the inland areas are mostly rolling country. There are seals, whales, fish, kelp and shellfish for sea produce. It is a very good area for that. The occupation forces consist of the following: - at least 5 war galleys are in the area at a given time, they each have 200 mariners on them. - a force of foot troops consisting of 100 crossbowmen and 300 footmen (mercenaries) - a force of 25 light cavalry (scouts for the area) and 100 medium cavalry (the personal troops of the Lord Governor--Duke Anderman's deputy) - a gathering force of humanoids, mixed types, hobgoblins, goblins, orcs, bugbears, perhaps about 700 at the moment. |
