| treetrunker11-24-06, 12:50 PM | My idea is this: I will create a world, call it Realms of Elentul, and form it's history up to a certain date. Then, I will run several campaigns with the players in my group, and use the world for the setting. The interesting part about this is that the players will actually form the history of the world. Each campaign will affect a particular portion of the world, and this will affect future campaigns. They will be completely chronological, so each campaign would be after the previous one in real life and in the world. This will allow me to run plenty of fun games and flesh out a deep history of the world at the same time. As I create the world, I will post details and campaign events on this thread. What do you think of this idea? Please post your thoughts. |
| treetrunker11-26-06, 03:18 AM | First up for your reading pleasure is the creation story. Origin of the Multiverse In the Beginning there was just emptiness. Blackness stretched infinitely across the vast reaches of space. Then, out of nowhere, there was a bright flash of light, and Uthienos was created. With his body came an infinite host of powers, coursing through his divine veins. Uthienos experimented with his powers for a long time, before he became bored and decided to fashion himself a wife. He also created a small world for himself, with a small cottage to live in with his new bride. He called his creation Thirania, and she became his queen, birthing him his first son, Heironeous. Heironeous was born a cripple, but had a pure and uncorrupt heart. Eventually, Uthienos decided to cure his son’s deformities, and he prepared a huge spell to infuse Heironeous with strength. The spell worked perfectly, and now Heironeous was as powerful as his father. However, all this power warped the young god’s mind, and he slowly turned towards evil. He began to resent his father’s rule, and plotted to kill him. He confronted his father, and began a huge battle. Heironeous finally won the upper hand, magically pinning Uthienos against the ground. As he cast the killing spell, Thirania jumped out of nowhere into the path of the deadly magic. The blow split her body into thousands of pieces, creating the inner and outer planes. Seeing what he had done, Heironeous gasped, and fell to his knees. He wept tears of blood over the death of his beloved mother. Uthienos lay on the ground unconscious, but Heironeous let him be, and walked off alone. When Uthienos came to, he saw a few fragments of Thirania’s remains moving slowly towards each other. After many hours, they finally reached, and fused together, forming a small ball of matter, which glowed with a strange red light. Suddenly, the matter burst, creating a huge flash of black light. When the dust settled, there was a young man standing there in black armor, holding a vicious looking flail. “My name is Hextor,” he said, “I was the unborn baby still inside my mother when my treacherous brother slaughtered her. He will pay for what he has done!” Hextor then sprinted off, following his older sibling’s tracks. Eventually, Hextor reached Heironeous, and called out, “Heironeous, you killed our mother. You must pay!” Heironeous slowly turned around with a new look on his face. The events of several hours earlier had changed him, and had purged the evil from his soul. He now wore shining white armor, and carried a gleaming longsword. “You know that isn’t true, Hextor! We were twins, but you somehow took control of my mind before we were born. You were the evil that tainted my soul. It was your decisions that attacked Uthienos, and your spells that killed mother. You are the one who must pay!” The two brothers charged at each other, wielding their powerful weapons. They fought for days, hacking and slashing, but neither of them gaining any ground. Finally, Hextor tripped Heironeous, sending him tumbling. As the evil brother prepared to strike the final blow, Heironeous swept up his longsword to block it. As the two weapons met, the sword sliced the head of the flail in half, wrenching the chain from the handle, and breaking the sword at the hilt. The instruments of death tumbled through the air, and the longsword pierced right through the center of the mutilated flail. With the head of the flail cut in half, there is a flat side, and a spiked side, with the sword piercing through the core. Also, the chains of the flail are still attached. The immense energy created by these attacks brought spontaneous life into existence upon these entangled weapons. Elves, Humans, Halflings, Dwarves, Gnomes, and all the monstrous races were created upon the flail head. Eventually, they spread out, and populated the spiked side of this new world, which they called Elentul. The inner and outer planes that were created by the death of Thirania migrated towards the flail, and now reside on the tips of the spikes and in the links on the chain. |

| treetrunker05-28-07, 02:43 AM | Here is the map. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x320/treetrunker_photo/Elentul.jpg The area in the north is uncharted. That big thing in the middle is the sword sticking through the flail, and the major central continent is called Lasep. The blank space between the continents is water. |
| queenfange05-28-07, 09:05 AM | Sounds like a good idea. Have you decided on races, classes, etc. yet or are you still working on those? |
| treetrunker05-29-07, 01:18 PM | I'm going to try to be as inclusive as I can be. For classes, almost anything will be fine as long as I am ok with it and I have the book for it. (For example, I'm excluding the scout because I think it's stupid.) I don't really know what races I'm going to have beyond the basic PHB ones, as I will be adding in those types of things as I map out the different countries and areas. Also, I have begun two solo campaigns on Elentul. I'm DMing my friend through one, and he is the DM for the other one. Below is what happened in the first session of each. Me DM, Session One: A young assassin by the name of Thief Ryx was given his final test to enter the Black Fang Guild as a full member. His task: to infiltrate the house of a member of the Shadow Assassins and kill him. He killed two guards, climbed up onto the rooftop patio, and then went down into the main area of the house. He spent at least an hour(game time) trying to find the target, but eventually he discovered the entrance to a secret room. He immediately encountered one of my favorite traps, which was from these boards, I think in the 1001 most devious traps thread. There was a room, with a pedestal and button in the middle. As soon as you entered, the way back was blocked off, and the walls started to move towards you, threatening to smash you. In panic, he pressed the button. For half an hour he sat around pressing the button and trying to solve the puzzle. Eventually, he got fed up and allowed the walls to smash him. However, as they got close, they stopped, and a door opened. He then went through, killed his target, and got out of there. All in all, it was a very good session. Him DM, Session One: Endak Farmo is my character in this campaign, and he is Neutral Evil Monk. (I'm allowing monks to be non-lawful.) He discovered a strange cave, and went in to investigate. Through his exploring, he discovered that there was a band of kobolds led by a pit fiend, and a troglodyte tribe, AND a gnoll tribe. He forged an alliance between the trogs and the gnoll, and started a war with the kobolds. The gnolls said that they would agree to raid villages outside of the cave and take over territory if Endak cleared the dungeon of ghouls. This character is well on his way to world domination! |
| treetrunker06-03-07, 12:47 PM | Nations of Elentul Kranak Population: 500,000: 80% humans, 10% halflings, 3 % elves dwarves half-orcs, 1% other Land Area: 40,000 Square miles Leader: Yukar Gendon LE Capital: Silvar Kranak is mainly a trading nation, as half of its borders are water. He has begun using desperate tactics to stop them, and they are growing angry. |
