| JulesCARV05-04-07, 10:03 PM | I have two questions: 1. Does anyone know anything about Rich Burlew's campaign setting, whatsoever, no matter how vague or general? (e.g. "It's mostly low-level" or "It's mostly high-level") 2. What are the chances that WotC going to do anything with it, ever? (whether releasing the rights back to Burlew or scavenging it for ideas and dispersing them through other sourcebooks or releasing it to the public) 0%? 5%? 20%? 80%? |
| armeniantwins05-04-07, 10:06 PM | First let me say: Rich Burlew is awesome, and I love OOTS. Now that that is over, why don't you read the articles from Giant in the Playground? Here (http://www.giantitp.com/Gaming.html), on the bottom of the page, are the articles. (Called "New World") |

If you're talking about the campaign setting that he sent in and which was one of the 3 finalists to the Campaign survey of 2003 (or whenever), then expect to never hear a word about it. Burlew signed an NDA on the subject, and Wizards can now use that setting in any way they want, even to insert parts of it into Eberron (should they choose), and no one could ever say a thing about it. If you're talking about the setting he started building on his site, then it's apparently never going to be updated; he's got essentially a full-time job with OotS now, and doesn't produce any content that's not OotS-related. Hmmm... that came of harsher towards Rich than I had planned; I like Rich's stuff, but it seems to be true nonetheless. |
| Hochiu05-05-07, 03:45 PM | Its also the fact that he seems unable to even maintain updates when he's supposed to, despite the fact that it is his "full time job". Given his history of updating on time, I wouldn't ever expect to see something so menial as a side project update ever. |
| Araes05-05-07, 08:24 PM | Heh, you can really feel the love. Curious though, I wonder whether the setting that he submitted is the one that OotS is based out of? It would imply mid with some high level. |
