Samuria Seven [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-18-07, 01:56 AM If you have never seen the anime series, samuria seven, you probably won't be able to help, but my friends and I were talking about how cool it would be to have a d20 systems where you are really amazing like the samuria in the show. I was just wondering if anyone tried this or had any ideas on how we could do it. I think it would be like an epic campaign, since your character could easily take down forces much larger than yours. If you have any ideas on how to do this, please post a reply. Thanks in advance.

05-18-07, 02:21 AM Hmm, I'm utterly unfamiliar with this Samurai Seven, but might have some ideas to help. For starters, you may not necessarily need to run an epic campaign to let the heroes cut down hordes of enemies--mid-level characters are fully capable of Cleaving their way through dozens of low-level gobbos or orcs without much difficulty.

Also, if you're looking for a class to represent the samurai from the anime, you need to decide what you're after. There is a samurai core class in the D&D Complete Warrior supplement, which focuses more on the two-swords-as-one, stare-down-your-foes aspects of the archetype. If flashy supernatural swordplay is your objective, you may want to take a look at the Book of Nine Swords. While the classes in it aren't named samurai, they do take advantage of special rules for martial maneuvers, weapon styles, and combat stances, which can among other things allow heroes to smite their foes with flaming swords or perform acts of lethal acrobatics.

Yeah, Bo9S has a lot of Anime type feats, as does X Psionic Handbook. As another option if you don't mind running/converting 3.0 you might want to check out Oriental Adventures if you're looking to make Samurais from different backgrounds there's different clans each one can come from.

05-18-07, 03:24 PM I have also seen the original movie, and the anime is based on it. The samuria defend a town, but then they go after the new emperor. It is quite ridiculous what the samuria in the anime can do, but it is really cool.
