| Blacksworddragon12-17-07, 11:56 AM | Yesterday I started my first Evil Campaign, which is also my first time allowing PCs of monsterous races with Level adjustments. Everything went strangely better then I ever expected. The same group that gets into fights over how to save the proverbial princess work as a well oiled machine when it comes to raping and razing the countryside. I'd been expeced the worse and as such didn't bother to give the campaign world much depth but now they have me interested. The PCs are all formerly deceased individuals conscripted by hell to make a little trouble in return for they're original fleshy forms. They have been promised their souls in return for prolonged service. They serve a trio of Kytons. They're first mission is to burn down a nearby town to provoke a reaction from a few bralani spies. They will next have to terrorize a well used rode in order to hijack a caravan bearing weapons for an Order of Paladins. Then they will have to assassinate a prominant cleric in secret... but after that I'm not quite sure where to go. I need advice on plot ideas and I wanted to know how to create my own races. |

For plot, i think a few more razings, and maybe a few small subtle things, corrupt some high officials in a church, trick some people into a cult to be used as sacrifices to the demon lord(s) that the PCs serve. You know, evil things. Try and imagine what you would try to do if you were a Demon Lord and had people to influence the material plane. I, personally, as a demon, would try to forst sow discord and hate among several nation's peoples, set them at war, and then jump in at the end and conquer all; creating a large evil empire under the control of a Big Demon. At this point the Pcs could be freed, and offerd positions as mop-uppers, having to go around and eliminate the groups that are left. Nice idea, sounds like fuun. |

| Kelmourne12-18-07, 06:58 PM | Isn't there anyone who has run an evil campaign that can give me some pointers? If your in Carceri, never hug a humanoid toad. They tend to stick to you. I guess it's really players advice for evil campaigns but the advice still stands. |
| Evil DM Mk312-20-07, 05:48 PM | Isn't there anyone who has run an evil campaign that can give me some pointers? There has to be a reason for the PCs to be together. Even LE PCs will have little real reason not to kill each other unless there is a real reason to force co-operation. Second there has to be a certain tolerance for PvP and theft, this is hard to balance but you have to expect them to resort to violence, they are EVIL. Third, if you don't have mature players go and play LG. Only sensible and mature players can deal with Evil for long before the melt down. Finally if they fight good guys, make them annoying. Remember you have to show the world as through their perspective. Practice your sanctimonious self sure and **** retentive Paladin voice. No one sane enjoys beating up Mother Teresa but those whinny vegan environmentalists who drive electric cars and always seem disturbingly moist are fair game (I know they may have something good to say, I know they need may be saving the world but that does not stop them being annoying.) |
| fodigg12-21-07, 02:22 PM | Is there a reason for them to continue working for their patron? Or is their patron just using them? I think a neat twist would be for them to have to defeat their overlord, not because he's evil, but because he's lying scum and he messed with the wrong group of hombres! |
| Blacksworddragon12-26-07, 03:36 PM | Is there a reason for them to continue working for their patron? Or is their patron just using them? I think a neat twist would be for them to have to defeat their overlord, not because he's evil, but because he's lying scum and he messed with the wrong group of hombres! Their overlord has their souls in jar and with just a scratch across the glass they are dropped prone and racked with pain. They do his bidding out of fear. The campaign is off to a good start. They guys work together better as a group of monsters bent on killing and eating everything than they did as heroes attempting to save the world. They've burnt down a town, attempted to burn down the elves' forest and attacked the stronghold of a Harpy nest. They share treasure and work like a well oiled unit... which is something that they couldn't master in 8 months of playing 'good guys'. Weird. I still need ideas but I'm slowly developing a story around their mayhem and antics. |
| DragonicHeritage12-26-07, 11:51 PM | Remember: It goes rape, pillage, THEN burn... On a more serious note. If those damn commoners keep standing around watching all your looting and maiming, burn their houses down. That will chase 'em off. Attention from local authorities can be fun... constant search parties and the like. Maybe you could have recurring good guys and good cults converting evil-doers. Doing the perverted reverse good thing could be fun- like slay the princess, rescue the dragon, but more ridiculous and serious. |
| fodigg12-27-07, 11:08 AM | You need a super-posse hunting them down. Think Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Keep them moving, playing cat and mouse with this terrifyingly effective band of do-gooders. Dangerous villains make great heroes, and the reverse is also true. When the antagonist is more powerful than the protagonist, victory is that much sweeter. |
