| Namer_and_Shaper03-01-08, 04:31 PM | Spiral Down Long ago the devil-god invited brave and foolish beings to enter his realm from all points in time and space, from across the countless worlds, so that they may play his game. The first to reach the Tower in the center of the Glass Desert, guarded by the seven fallen foes of the devil-god, would be granted his power to do with as they saw fit. None succeeded. Children were born to the fools, children had children had children and the game was forgotten. But time is short, the devil-god slumbers and without his concentration, the world has begun to slowly descend, to spiral down. Premise: The world is a series of colossal domes that house within its own country, with its own laws of nature, magic and strange, alien landscape. In the domes cling a fearful people that hide in great walled cities and try their best to ignore the situation, perhaps even forgetting it. While one dome may be rolling hills and moor with a false starry sky above another could be a massive flood plane with jutting mountains topped with lakes. Surrounding these domes is a sea of mazes, in the form of canyons, chasms, forests, steel structures, living fungus tunnels, spire and pillar filled tundra. Within the mazes lurk anything, everything, great serpents and winged beasts, mighty Fey filled with malice and unreal in design. People carve out a living in the maze, nomads mainly, for not even the monsters are completely safe in the maze. Nothing rules here, the people fear the wolves, the trolls fear the dragons, and the behemoths die by unseen tooth and claw. Nothing is certain. Not even the myth I told you above the premise. People live and die; they hear what their family tells them, they see what they see, in the end it is about what you believe. The people of the domes and the maze are obviously descended from many different races of people; some people have brown skin while others have glimmering jade skin, one might have sharp teeth, another might have long, spindly fingers and pointed ears, more still are as tall as trees whilst others are capable of flight. But it could have always been this way. If not for the feeling all those that adventure feel; something is wrong with the very world they stand on. So thats the general idea, any thoughts on it? And yes, its another idea I just thought of mere moments ago, maybe I shoulda waited longer before showing it. Nah. Oh, and the nature of the world, being cut-off domes and endless maze means you can join in if you like. |

So he travelled the maze, defeating many great beasts with cunning, shiftness and strength, searching for the most beautiful flowers and trees, which he placed on the moon and cared for dutifully. Seeing the Wonderfields, Diadoe agreed to join him on the moon, but the dead moon god cast a final spell from the grave, trapping Diadoe in a white prison forever. Thus Cormag, weeping for his lost love, carved out a cave-home in a great moon mountain, naming it the Gutted Mountain. There she told the kindly moon mage of her plight and though he was elderly even for a immortal, he fought Cormag to a standstill when he hungrily appeared to take Diadoe. Cormag vanished as quickly as he had appeared and all thought the battle won, but as the eldery moon turned to Diadoe, Cormag charged him invisibly and torn him apart. Where his blood spilt grew the Wonderfields, each flower more beautiful than the last. Cormag roared in victory, but soon saw that he had been tricked, the moon mage knew he would be beaten and he and Diadoe had created a spell to encase Diadoe in a glimmering white caste, a place impossible to enter. Tomte The tomte are small, with little, snowy, wrinkled faces and downy blonde or light ginger hair and glossy, wet, dark eyes. A rare few have long mustache and sideburns. In many cases the tomte with take on the owner’s job, candle makers have tomte that make their own batch at night and undertakers have grave digging tomte. The tomte are adept at hiding and though a person may know they live with them, they will only ever catch a glimpse of them. Despite their size they posses a immense strength. They use this might to protect those around them and often come to the aid of people that do not even know they are present. They hate change and try to establish order wherever they go, they are thus famed lore-keepers and elderly tomte are said to know when something is about to change by a tingling in their bones. They can be offended by the owners of the house the live in and become tricksters, slamming doors at night and breaking things fixed in the past. They are obsessive to a fault and many tomte have one thing they cannot help but take and keep for themselves, be it coins, bread, ale, keys, bottles or knives. They rarely carry what they take on them, preferring to hide them around the house they inhabit. If off traveling, they will keep a desired object in their pocket and hope they can last out.
