I've been looking into the guide in creating strongholds and I wondered: How many of you had used this guide to create strongholds either for NPC's or PC's. If so would you care to give us a short review of it to see different examples on how a stronghold might be build.

I presume you are talking about the Stronghold Builder's Guide, in which case I say yes, it gets a good deal of use in creating fortresses and specialized structures of the sort. It doesn't oft come up in play (focus in more on dungeon-delving around here), but I've planned a number of scenarios where a fortress designed using the book (which is still quite useful despite the fact it's 3.0) is besieged Heroes of Battle style.

I prefer to use Pendragon's book myself but that is more out of the fact that I know the system a lot better.

I've often thought the prices were a little high and didn't take into account the effects that magic can have on construction.One of my players felt that the most important construction tool was a lyre of building!!A group of giants would be a big help as well,maybe even more than stated in the rules.

One of my players built a 3.5 million gold stronghold, spanning almost a square mile. had the best of everything, and a pen for his dragon.

That's nothing... (http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/stc/Coleridge/poems/Kubla_Khan.html)

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round :
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree ;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

10 Miles of Walls. Kubla Khan for the win!
