LegendOfRuranthia 04-06-07, 09:05 PM	This topic interests me, and may interest many anime fans aswell. One of my favourite anime series is Louie the Rune Soldier, and it has an older counterpart called Record of Lodoss War, both of which are from a single fantasy RPG by writer/manga-ka/game designer Ryo Mizuno. I'm trying desperately to rebuild Sword-World (the RPG by Mizuno) as a D&D campaign world, mainly by going to outside sources and gathering apocryphal knowledge of the world as a whole from Rune Soldier episodes. I've only just discovered the stats for the deities of the world by modifying descriptions found on Wikipedia.com, but there isn't much detail on the world geographically or culturally that I can find, apart from the Kingdom of Ohfun and some vague notions of the Kingdom of Ramlyearth. My proposal is this: Since there have been no Sword-World releases in 11 years, and since I believe the setting of Sword-World is so good and could appeal to a wide audience with the D20 system, we petition Wizards of the Coast and Mizuno-sama to reach some sort of deal or compromise. And, if not, I'll just keep trying to build the world...

The White Sorcerer 04-09-07, 06:50 PM	I'm not sure if WotC would pick up Sword World. It would be a limited line, at most. It would be really cool, though. The setting was offered to TSR, but they figured it wouldn't sell. Record of Lodoss War was, I think, the D&D cartoon. I mean, think about the party: Fighter, priest, dwarf fighter, mage, elf fighter/mage. Iconic. The old 80's kiddy cartoon just can't compare.
Araes 04-09-07, 07:53 PM	In general, I agree with the Pony, which would be one of the reasons why I wouldn't sign it. Although it was a cool story, and the setting was semi-interesting, as you've said yourself, the concept has effectively been dead for 11 years. Honestly, I think you'd be best off working on it on your own in an unofficial capacity, and hope for the best (IE, lawyers with nothing better to do not talking to you) The second reason I wouldn't sign, is that online petitions are historically futile. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a single occasion where they've significantly swayed a corporation compared to actually writing them letters, calling them on the phone, or appearing in person (in that order of importance). The likelihood of you getting people to do things for you is inversely proportional to how easy it is for them to ignore you. And online petitions are so easy to ignore, that most people don't even know they exist. Now, if you can get a million man march for Lodoss War...
