Thallosonya: The Liquid World. [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-02-07, 09:04 PM Thallosonya seen from the prow of a spelljammer is a beautiful sapphire jewel. Many who stare at this world would assume it is merely another lump of rock that just happens to have an abnormal amount of water. But this is not true.
Thallosonya has no earth, only some dissolved minerals. It is truely a waterworld.

For all its beauty, Thallosonya is a harsh place to live. The atmosphere consists of mostly oxygen and hydrogen, an atmosphere that would be friendly to air breathers if it wasn't for it's thinness. Although the air is sparce, it is often whipped into massive storms by the currents that are not stopped by landmass.

Materials inhabitants of other worlds take for granted are unknown on Thallosonya. It great cities are made not of stone but vegatation, and metals are a bizzare subtance to the people. In many aspects, the world has failed to enter their Stone Age due to a lack of fire and mineral. However, the fact remains that they are civilizations with written language and invention.

The strangest feature of this world is the hot ice. Miles down the pressure is so strong and hot the water solidifies into a scalding hot solid form.

Creation

Long ago there were many gods. But they couldn't decide how to make the world.

Then one god made the sun. The other gods grew angry that he would make the world without them. But he said to them "Do not be angry, for I have not made the world, I have only made the light to warm it and give it life." The others accepted this, and were appeased.

But then the sun god thought about what he had done. After all, a world of light and fire would be a nice place to live. So he made a hollow shell of a world. This hollow shell was made of pressure and gravity, so the deeper into the shell, the hotter it was. But the gods had agreed on a hollow world, and once again the gods squabbled.

One evil god grew annoyed at this. Midgard, the Gluttonous Eel, was constantly interrupted from his hobby of devouring souls from other worlds. The debates of the gods were tiring and lasted eons. As his empty belly grumbled over the centuries, he grew progressively more hungry.

Finally he could not stand it anymore. He stretched his mouth as far as possible, and swallowed the sun god whole. The others stared in shock as they too suffered the same fate.

As the now fat and lazy Midgard layed back to sleep after his meal, he realized he had not eaten one. He was never thirsty so he had not drinken the Watermother. She attacked him with a fury the multiverse rarely saw. Her elemental might slew him.

The Watermother looked upon the hollow shell of her husbands planned world. She realized she could not fill it with fire and it was ill suited to fill with water, but she created Thallosonya in his memory.

This had the effect off hot ice, and great unbridled currents. She accepted these as necessary defects. However, she could not control anything but the water. She also could not make life. So she went to the sun. As her form began to steam away, she petitioned for her husband's spirit. He lived for a short while, and they lay together. However she was vaporizing, and her husband was fading away.

In her final moments the Watermother cried tears of pain and sorrow, and from her tears were born the new gods.

And thus is the beginning of Thallosonya.

Nice start, by the way. I am keenly interested in how this fleshs out.

And so, I await the rest with much patience. Especially as I don't know of any other recourse. Well, I could hunt you down, and make you tell me at gunpoint. There are two problems with that, though. A, I have no idea how I could find you, let alone anyone else from these or any other boards,; and B, I don't own any guns.

04-03-07, 06:18 PM well we know that he is in america. thats a good start. with the two of us working we could probably find him in oh i'd say 40 years or so of searching. alright you start in the west and ill take the east.

04-04-07, 05:59 PM Expect to see some deities tomorrow. Sorry for the delays, I have a school play. My school is known in the area for plays of almost proffesional quality. This means long practices that take up much of my time.
