| Danahan09-24-07, 07:07 PM | I am going to start a new campaign sometime in October. A little info for you guys before hand. This campaign has a gothic horror theme, and is taking place in a homebrew world. The time era will be equivalent to mid-19th century earth. I have derived a lot of influence from both Ravenloft and especially the Masque of the Red Death. The PCs come from all walks of life. I’m using the classes from the Masque of the Red Death book to begin with, although they will be able to take levels in the core classes later on. So far I have an archeologist, journalist, gunsmith, and mortician. They will be summoned before Count Brackuss, a lawful neutral vampire lord, who wishes to sponsor an expedition into the remote and untamed parts of the world (sort of a Lewis and Clark thing). Some of the goals of the expedition will be as follows: I.) Explore and map the expanse of the Murky Forest (50 square miles). II.) Prove or disprove the existence of Castle Ravenloft in the Domains of Dread (EtCR)! III.) Finally, explore the Tomb of Horrors (campaign finale)! Two Main Expedition Decrees: I.) Feel free to adventure independently of the expedition in order to procure additional funds to further the expedition. II.) Feel free to induct new members into the expedition on Brackuss’s behalf in order to further the expedition (new PCs and NPCs). Of course, there will need to be a plethora of adventures if the party wishes to survive EtCR, let alone Tomb of Horrors at the end of the campaign. That’s where I am stuck, because I’m currently having a streak of writer’s block. Does anyone have any ideas for what sort of adventures could come out of an expedition? Perhaps locating a new mine, or source of fresh water. Tracking down a band of savages and eliminating them. Things of that nature. |
