| Loki_God'o'Chaos03-19-07, 06:40 PM | This is Rupture Farms, they say its the biggest meat packing plant on oddworld...I used to work here...well...actually, I was a slave, like all the others......... Does this bring back warm memories to anyone else? I know they do to me. Countless hours of my life have been spent playing that game, much like DnD. So, I figured the other day when I found the game laying around in a box of crap from my old house, that I would sit down and start mixing the two. Im going to start posting what I think stats would be for oddworld inhabitants, possibly ideas for terrain and mixing Oddworld characters into the DnD universe...or vice cersa. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. |

| MasonMurdoc03-20-07, 04:08 PM | Mudakans...psionic, or divine? That's what Abe s right? If so I'd say Psionic |
| Loki_God'o'Chaos03-20-07, 05:56 PM | I was debating on this....I want to say Divine, but more of an Animism style, because that is kind of the religion they follow. The Mudokon "god" (Shrykull) represents both creation and destruction, and is supposed to be a guiding spirit to all Mudokons. Im actually going to have to say that due to the tattoos and ritual chanting, that a Mudokons abilities would be divine. After all, not all Mudokons can do the chantings and ritual powers that Abe exhibits. It is really only the Native Mudokons (at least in game) that we see using ritual chants, holy tattoos, and the mystical powers...etc. A few, like Abe, have the capability of using the abilites inately, so Id rule it to be something to the effect of.......1% of the Mudokon population exhibits these abilities through psionics while another 20ish% possesses the abilities through something like a divine spell-like ability, and the remaining 79ish% do not possess it. (Note: The Majority of Mudokons are enslaved, and if you remember the game, you have to save them and use your abilities to their benefit) If we want to get technical, I suppose we could also provide a small amount of it to psionics when it comes to the Blind Mudokons (from....Was it Abe's Exodus?), because they seem to be able to see without sight (Psionic Blindsense?). Dunno, Im still in the process of workin with them...Ill probably finish the Elum or Scrabs before I get to finish the Mudokons. Edit: I may be over thinking this, of course. |
| d2447866703-20-07, 06:47 PM | What about the stranger? I can't remember what his species is called, but it is kinda cool; and he isn't really a centaur; more feline. Oh! I remembered it, he's a Steef! |
| Loki_God'o'Chaos03-20-07, 08:29 PM | Yep, and last of the breed, well......more or less, there were some hints that their are more streefs out there in disguise, but with oddworld inhabitants not making games anymore, we may never know. But yeah, Streef....if memory serves, they are supposed to be something like a centaur, only they have portions that are gorrilla, large cat....and I cant remeber what the other portion is, but it was something with alot of flexibility. Otherwise that whole trick of standing upright and hiding his second pair of legs inside of his boots would be alot more difficult. Im not focusing on that portion of oddworld currently, but I should be moving that way shortly. (They are seperate continents, at least, in order to satisfy Oddworlds Exuse for the Stranger not being part of the Quintology) After all, I go roughly six creature creations a week (All at once, normally finish on saturdays) and there arent a whole lot of creatures presented for options in the early games (The two Abe centered and the Munch) |
| tryco03-26-07, 01:35 PM | here's a thread that did some of this earlier on: Oddworld d20 (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-382487.html). i think there was one on the oddworld website, but i think it's offline. |
