| Sliversun05-12-07, 06:27 AM | We've all seen gods of agriculture, forests, oceans ect. But does anyone have any ideas for gods of cities and the different aspects of urban life? |
| queenfange05-12-07, 06:50 AM | CN goddess of lower-class entertainment (gambling, drinking, and similar) LN god of civic duty (worshipped by those in the city watch and some bureaucrats) LG god of civic virtue (worshipped by those who wish to be model citizens, and traditionally worshipped by the mayor or ruling council [though they may secretly follow another]) NE god of sewers, vermin, and disease NG goddess of safety and health (prayers to her before risky construction projects or when there's a threat of plague) N goddess of students, studying, and examinations (for a city with civic exams to enter bureaucratic or political positions) LE god of corruption and bribery CE god of thievery, burglary (sp?), and violent crime CG goddess of luxury and art LN god of buildings, structure, and order Hope a few of these help. |
| krichaiushii05-12-07, 08:16 AM | A deity of commerce; racial deities; music; knowledge; secrets; security; deities specific to cultural foibles (e.g. if arena combats are a common form of entertainment, then deities of Strength, Agility, and combat might be there). |
| Werral05-12-07, 09:51 AM | NG god of beggars, the blind, the elderly and handicapped. N god of sewers and filth (pay respects to the rat king helps keep rats from your homebusiness) LN god of artisans (or maybe each has their own god, or maybe they adopt foreign gods - like Moradin being worshipped by human masons and blacksmiths) CE god of debauchery |
| Deper05-12-07, 09:58 AM | Urbanus - Neutral Good Lesser Deity, God of cities, growth, and improvement. (Races of Destiny, p.18) |
| Johnny_Angel05-12-07, 10:35 PM | Notorius Red - LE god of traffic lights that always seem to be red...even when you're the only car sitting there for 15 minutes at 3 in the morning. |
| Sliversun05-13-07, 04:51 AM | Okay, this looks good so far. Keep up with the ideas. |
| Aneutralshadeofblack05-13-07, 07:45 AM | Thievery and debauchery (the moderate kind, not orgy-sacrifices to dark gods) would likely be CN rather than evil, though. There's nothing inherently bad in theft/excess. NE god of murder worshipped by underworld "undertakers" and by executioners (with a domain that provides quick and clean kills and means of escaping the scene and evading detection) is an easy answer. |
| Sliversun05-21-07, 04:27 AM | Bump. |
| Sliversun06-05-07, 05:34 AM | Bump. Any more ideas? |
| TStarnes06-05-07, 08:56 AM | (Some of these may be duplicates of things said before....I am just brainstorming) God of Victory God of Persuasion God of Thieves God of Gambling God of Mischeif God of Punishment God of Fortune/Merchants/Commerce God of Craftsman God of Healing (specifically Apothocaries) God of Artisans God of Justice (law/police) God of the Poor God of the Rich |
| Glak06-06-07, 06:31 PM | Disease. Today cities are probably only a little more diseased than rural and suburbs. In a more medival setting cities have extremely high death rates. Magic would make this worse. If the clerics of disease spread disease and the clerics of health cure disease you are going to end up with huge amount of disease because it spreads naturally too. By the time you cure the guy who had it first he has infected ten more |
