I've been tinkering with this campaign world in my spare time. There's a lot of content up on my Web site (mostly fluff), so I'll only place the bare bones here.

www.vianproject.net

I'm posting this here because I've been flying on my own so far; everything in this world intrigues me, but I'm not everyone.
I need feedback on several things.

A (very) quick rundown of Vian:
-Vian is a dying world. The only land is slowly sinking, and there doesn't seem to be any way to prevent it.
-Vian's people have a history of bitter racial conflict. There's comparable peace now, but several forces are slowly pushing that peace to its breaking point.
-There are no gods in Vian. There are two religions in Vian, but neither have many followers. Both interact directly with the island's spirits.
-Spirits that personify one of the four classical elements or one of the four alignments are the major nonhuman forces in Vian.

What I'm looking for:
-Is the fluff interesting? Does it capture other players' and DMs' imaginations?
-Is the setting playable? Is there enough conflict and mystery to sustain a full campaign?

-The posted classes, feats and races all push the envelope a little; do they push too much? The Shaman seems like it could be too powerful.
-Current classes favor casters (in my untested opinion); what can be done to push melee classes so they're on par with casters?

Thanks for looking!

Interesting, indeed. It seems that there is a very strong oriental presence in this setting, a lot of Daoist elements and such, with apocalyptic thrown in for good measure. It's almost as far from core/mainstream D&D as it gets though, and I'm not too good on judging that for its merits. I'm especially tempted to cherry-pick that Shaman.

Keep up the good work, Grung. This looks like it's packed with innovation.
