| TheEndIsNear01-03-08, 10:26 PM | I'm willing to do a Warhammer 40 000 campaign for my last 3.5 campaign. I'd want to make my characters fight almost every 40K race (no Dark Eldar I already know). And it will take place on a very stable work (psyker wise) to explain the magic(not like anyone I game with beside me takes full casters anyways...) I'd make everyone Gestalt and maybe "Tri"stalt but I'd also pit them vs everything (carnifexes anyone :P and terminators or genestealers and necrons!!) Other things to make them strong (roll 4D6 (or even 5D6 ) and drop the lowest(s)). And maybe give them access to low level 40K weapons (dropped power sword counts as a +6 bonus (don't add Armour bonus or Nat armour to AC...)) I’ll go Epic and make levelling faster. Maybe all clerics worship one of the 4 chaos gods, or the Emperor. Any ideas for actual stats or abilities for the races? (I know for space marines, high 20s everywhere is expected, as is high armour bonus, deflection for wraiths, but I'm a little biased on boltguns, I don't care if you can take a dragon breath weapon and only loose half you hit points... a machine gun firing fist sized rocket-propelled grenades that blow up half a second after entering you still kills you (heavy bolter)) Any other ideas are also welcomed as is any criticism (I actually accept bad ones as it tells me what needs improvement, but constructive one is always better.) Thanks D-End EDIT: I am also thinking of using squats to represent dwarfs, eldar for elves, tau as a new race, ogryns as (maybe half)orcs, ratlings as halfling or gnome any other Ideas? (only the good races as PC races) |
| Cowczar01-04-08, 05:57 AM | So will all the PCs be one army? Space Marines only, or also Ork, Tau, Eldar, etc? You'll probably have to make stats for other races. |
| TheEndIsNear01-04-08, 09:56 AM | I was thinking of making a world "free" from the light of the emperor (traitors) but not dedicated to chaos where some of the "nice" races come (IG, Eldar, Tau, Squats(OMFG!!!), And use Ratlings and the Orgyns in IG as playable races), the only problem is that 40K relies ALOT on shooting and almost no CC in those races... But I have ALOT of time so I wouldn't mind making stats for every races (thinking of adding armour saves to DND maybe...) thanks D-End |
| TheEndIsNear01-08-08, 03:38 PM | Bump :bump: :allalone:... D-End |
| Kamin_Majere01-08-08, 06:00 PM | Well first you really need to settle down and deside what kind of power level your wanting to try to do this with. Are you going Imperial propaganda level where Space Marines can throw Leman Russ's and Eldar move 10 times the speed of light with matrix like fighting styles? Or are you going to do something a bit more normal where it makes sense? 40K is a difficult setting to try to import into a D&Desque rules system. =][= tried it and it failed pretty horribally (though the models were very nice) As far as stats go, i really dont see a need to do anything but use D&D core races. They can represent just about everything in the 40K universe pretty well. If you wanted to get a better feel for Armor like it is in 40K i suggest the Armor as Damage Reduction variant rule. 40K armor doesnt help deflect hits as much as try to negate them. Either use 1/2 the Armors value as a DR/- or use the full value as DR/- |
| TheEndIsNear01-08-08, 08:54 PM | Ahh I love the Idea:P I was gonna make them kinda using the stats of the models in 40k (table top game) But i was wondering, a Space Marine is a streaght of 4, while a human is a strenghy of 3, what would SM have in stats in DND? is that in the (24s? logicly it would) Thanks for reaplying:P D-End |
| Kamin_Majere01-09-08, 07:42 AM | Your pretty much going to have to ignore the 40K stats to transfer it over. Also remember a stat set that really only uses the numbers 1-5(i say this because its rare for stats to go over 5 in that game) to represent everything isn't going to be very accurate. Another thing is a Human isn't STR 3 in that game, a fully trained military soldier is. Thats why i said you need to kind of ignore the 40K stats. In that game they are basically saying that a soldier with years of training and probably more than one military campaign during their lives can only actually shoot with an accuracy rating of about 50%. As to space marines... i would largely leave them out of your game. Or introduce it as a template that can be applied to a human male. It gives alot of bonus' but nothing that couldn't be covered with the D&D rules pretty easily. Just have to remember, super human doesn't mean invincible death machines, just slightly better stats and a bit harder to kill. |
| TheEndIsNear01-09-08, 03:02 PM | Well i think humans should keep STR 3 cause well, strenght is very "wide", some one who can lift 750punds and someone who can lift 75 pounds both are STR 3... grots (STR 2) might be only be able to lift 25 pouns... and a space marine can lift a ton... I'm not going to let them use SM tho.. only enemies.. D-End |
| Prom01-09-08, 04:13 PM | Hi TheEndIsNear, You might like to know that warhammer 40K has already been converted to the d20 system. Check out the d20 future forum and look for d20 Warhammer 40,000 Website, by Skrittiblak. The last page has the website leading to all the work he has done, but move quickly as Black industries is putting out a 40k rpg this month and then it is likely to get shut down. http://forums.gleemax.com/leaving.php?destination=http://www.geocities.com/skrittiblak/ Prom |
| JulesCARV01-09-08, 05:05 PM | Maybe it could be a world isolated by a warp storm for the past five centuries or so. The local branches of the Magisterium and such still exist, but have taken a decidedly heretical turn in response to the circumstances of isolation. This could explain why the planet is independent of Imperial doctrines, but hasn't yet been virus-bombed by the Imperium. The warp storm activity could also give rise to increased prevelance of chaos demons, which could give the potentially non-mutually-hostile races trapped in the system (tau, eldar, humans, etc) another reason to work together and for humanity's priests to "discover" that the Emperor really loves tau and eldar too and all that stuff about indiscriminantly exterminating aliens was really just a big misinterpretation of His will. |
| TheEndIsNear01-09-08, 05:45 PM | I like the idea, and I'll check the place out see what they did, I don't wanna learn a whole new sytem but I'll check the rules. Thanks D-End |
| TheEndIsNear01-10-08, 03:11 PM | Ahh. nvm ppl, I'm quiting DND... no Campaign, sorry for the time wasted, and thanks for the help... D-End EDIT: Nvm not quiting but not doing the campaign, sorry guys.. |
