| serrated_soldier12-26-07, 07:57 PM | This is my first time running a campaign and i was just perusing my local gaming store and ran into heroes of battle. i thought it was amazingly cool how it incorporated the war into the small scale and the other way around. i thought that i could draw a map with different areas of a kingdom, and choose what races/classes could be from each area. the players would then choose which area they were from, with the king of the area sending out a calling for an elite force, one person per city. they would then fight for the king like a strike force. its still kinda in a rough construction, but what do you think. any criticism or suggestions is welcomed. thanks the soldier |

I don't know if you've seen the BBC series "Sharpe" (which is about the Napoleonic Wars) but it does a good job of presenting scenarios in which a small group of soldiers act as an elite force alongside major campaigns or battles. |

| serrated_soldier01-03-08, 01:05 PM | that is a really good idea. is anyone really interested in helping me try to pull this whole campaign together, especially because some people want to do psionics and i have never used one. |

If he wanted an elite force, he would take the best soldiers from anywhere, even if it meant two from the same region. There has to be a reason for a strike force that's drawn from all over. Think Lord of the Rings. Each of the races at the Council of Elrond (that's probably wrong, sorry) is represented in the fellowship, showing good's determination to destroy the ring. Like GoriceXII said, maybe this is a political gimmick to show unity. Possibly, however, you could give each kingdom a really unique trait that is needed in the task force, so that maybe Region 1 has rogues, but Region 2 has the best divine spell casters. That way, each person in the party is unique and has a reason to be there. |
