| Anaesthesia06-17-07, 08:48 PM | (Note: If there is somewhere on the forum or on the site that deals with this question, please point me in that direction!!! All help will be appreciated) Summary of campaign thus far: The Party had been commissioned by an elderly elf wizard to recover several stolen divine and arcane works (books, weapons, etc). He had sent the party to the dwarven city (Crystal City), and said that the dwarf leader may have an idea of the location of some of the items. The dwarf leader asked the party to take the Scorpius Pearl along with them (as per several attempted burgalries-I also made the pearl to be able to contain divine spells) and to check out the nearby abandoned castle because of suspicious characters around there. The party had retrieved the Pearl, and is camping out/setting up for the night before going over to the castle. --- I have the castle planned out so far, but I have no idea what to do after that, but I was fiddling around with leaving a note (or something written in the stone) in some sort of riddle that would take them a long time to figure out or at least figure out in steps. Would anyone know of a good place to do that? (Currently, there is one magic item they're looking for in the castle, 2 monsters-a troll and a 1/2 hag, 1/2 elemental, a assassin vine and one trap) I also wanted to do something that would implicate the Dark Brigade, or some other faction. (The PCs are intrested in finding the Dark Brigade, the Dragon Rider, and the mastermind believed to behind everything, Illeon, the Blue Dragon Shaman). If anyone has any ideas to help propell my story (or even think it would propell it), I would love to hear about it. If I would need to expand what I said about either the Party or the evil NPCs/factions, let me know. Right now the campaign is a mix of Forgotten realms/Dragolance and Eberron because of the races of both PCs and NPCs, although, I made up my own homeworld for this campaign. Current Party level is 6. Alignment of the party is a mix of CG, LN and LG. Also the party: 1.Half-elf Bard 2.Human Fighter/Rogue 3.Dwarf Fighter 4.Warforged Duskblade 5.Human Dragon Shaman (Brass) 6.Cleric (to be rolled up) And a Kender Handler (NPC). |

The dragon shaman waith for them there/contacts them through dreamwalking/has sent a minion to negotiate for her. PCs get a significant part of the treasure if they leave [a tome and some other stuff] there for the dragon. If PCs are good negotiators/can read minds/cast divinations/brutally intimidate and torture the minion they can find out that the dragon needs the items to raise an army of [vile creatures]/to cure her young of [affliction]. Otherwise, PCs can strike a blind deal. If PCs accept the deal, they get treasure, dragon gets an army of vile minions/a number of hungry and growing young ones. The elf and the dwarf will be quite displeased, even to the point of declaring the party traitors and outlaws (unless the players are clever and figure out a way to save their chars' reputation). A fine seed for the next adventure is created, either way. If PCs don't accept the deal (which is more likely, I'd guess) they have an angry dragon or minion to deal with. Assuming they survive, though running. quick wits or sharp blades, the treasure is in their possession. At this point, dwarves want the magical stuff for a [good and noble reason]. So do the elves. The PCs could simply steal all that loot, of course, but that'll anger everyone. Whichever way the adventure goes, the party will have an enemy or two (elves, dwarves, the dragon), an ally (elves, dwarves, the dragon) or powerful/valuable loot. And, whichever way it goes, everyone will have learned a bit about the PCs. (Disclaimer: The situations may cause inter-party strife. If your players can't handle that, figure out another course of events.) |
