| TimelordSimone05-07-07, 12:55 PM | To start off then... A beginning. It's so original. Anyway... In the beginning... A being of immense power came to unformed material plane. Her name was Ohgma. She bore quadruplets, the four elemental lords, who aided her in creating the foundations of the world. After the foundations of the world were laid, she bore ten more children, who finished the world. She then left. And has never returned. |
| TimelordSimone05-07-07, 01:18 PM | Ohgma's Children The Elemental Masters The four elemental masters are the first-born of the mothergod Ohgma, and they aided her in the creation of the world. They are believed to be the most powerful of all the gods, harnessing the raw power of creation at its most basic level. They very rarely get involved in matters on the material plane, but their churches can be found all over the world. They generally have few clerics, and are more commonly worshipped by druids. Neutral Good Domains: Good, Healing, Water Bolum is the most caring and benevolent of the four elemental masters. He is usually depicted as a kraken from the waist down, and a human from the waist up. He has no particular agenda for the material plane, yet he has many followers, who do their best to provide healing to those who need it. Bolum directly opposes his brother Marquon, and there is a huge amount of conflict between the two churches. His temples are usually built near rivers or lakes, and some are in fact floating or submerged. Those in cities usually have man-made waterways running through them. His clerics wear pale blue, pray at noon, and look after the waterways of the world. Lawful Neutral Domains: Cavern, Earth, Law Possibly the least concerned with mortal affairs of all the elemental masters, Milon is usually depicted as a massive woman formed out of natural rock formations. Considered stubborn by her siblings, she refuses to accept change unless it is extremely gradual. She has few clerics, though notably more among the subterranean races. Her temples are almost always set up in natural caves, though some are carved into rock faces. She very rarely has temples in cities or towns. Her clerics wear dark brown, pray at dusk, and catalogue the caves and tunnels of the world. Neutral Evil Domains: Destruction, Evil, Fire The least popular, though possibly most powerful, of the elementals, Marquon is usually depicted as a human sized salamander. Marquon’s church delight in burning things down, from ancient woodland glades, to new buildings. His temples are few and far between, and his congregation usually meet up in the burned out shells of temples to other gods. His clerics wear deep orange, pray at midnight, and spread destruction and fear through the world. Chaotic Neutral Domains: Air, Chaos, Storm Free spirited and fun loving would best describe Dragoa. She is usually shown as a vague humanoid outline, rather than having a truly defined form. She has the fewest followers of the elemental masters. Her followers very rarely stay in one place for very long, and she only has small shrines in her honour. She does not get on with her sister at all, and their followers usually just try and keep out of each others way. Her clerics wear very pale yellow, pray at dawn, and follow the wind where it takes them. The Deific Council The Deific Council comprises the rest of Ohgma's children. They rule over all other gods, assigning responsibilities, and handing down divine punishments. They mostly have little direct involvement in mortal affairs, spending most of their time managing the 'lesser' gods. I've listed them in birth order for the most part. Cyric and Tyr are identical twins. Orolan was born before Galmia and Brint, and Carobus was born after. Galmia and Brint are twins. Sondheim and Rattajack are twins. True Neutral (Her clerics can be of any alignment) Domains: Knowledge, Magic, Spell Favoured Weapon: Quarterstaff Ruler of all that is arcane, Ollamh is a generally indifferent deity. The only thing she cares about is magic, and the furthering of knowledge throughout the world. She laid the foundations of magic upon the freshly created world. Her followers are usually more than glad to share their knowledge with those who want to learn. Her clerics wear purple, and pray at noon. Chaotic Good Domains: Creation, Good, Healing Favoured Weapon: Sickle Cyric is a joyous, caring God. He was, and is, responsible for bringing life to the world. Nothing begins to grow, or is born, without his aid. Also, when someone is raised from the dead, he guides their soul from the afterlife, back to their body (Tyr resents this immensly). He has the most clerics of all his brothers and sisters, and they provide healing and care. They often act as midwives in the community. His clerics wear white, and pray at dawn. Lawful Evil Domains: Death, Destruction, Evil Favoured Weapon: Scythe Identical to, yet completely the opposite of his twin Cyric, Tyr is a cold, calculating god. He rules over death and the afterlife, guiding dead souls to their rightful resting places. His clerics often preside over funerals, and care for cemeteries. His clerics wear black, and pray at dusk. True Neutral Domains: Animal, Plant, Protection Protector of the wild, Silvanus cares for all that which is natural. His followers spend little time in cities, instead devoting their lives to the wild, and protecting it from building developments, mining and the like. His clerics wear pale green, and pray and dawn. True Neutral Domains: Healing, Renewal, Sun Favoured Weapon: Morningstar Gods of the two suns of the world, Orolan and Carobus provide care for all life. Their clerics wear yellow, and pray at dawn or noon. True Neutral Domains: Cold, Illusion, Moon Goddesses of the twin moons, Galmia and Brint watch over the night, and that which is not as it appears. Their clerics wear deep purple, and pray at dusk or midnight. Originally, the twins Sondheim and Rattajack were Goddess and God of fate, respectively. This worked fine for a while. They shared the work between them, and all was good. Eventually Rattajack decided to visit the material plane, so he could see first hand the people his work was for. This led to him becoming emotionally invested in his work. He began to spend a lot of time on the material plane, twisting fate to help people escape danger. He often didn't succeed. Eventually, his failures drove him to insanity, and he now twists fate randomly, causing both good luck, and bad. This created a lot of extra work for Sondheim: that which Rattajack would have taken care, and the added responsibilty of fixing the messes he made. Eventually, completely swamped with her responsibilties, Sondheim gave up her divinity, granting it to five young girls, now known as the Naias. Lawful Neutral Domains: Fate, Law, Planning The Naias govern all knowledge and prophecy. They are usually depicted as near identical young women, with only the slightest of differences between the five of them. Each of the five Naias governs a different area of fate:Armiel - Heart, Gweniel - Body, Lothiel - Mind, Meldeth - Blood, Livriad - Spirit. Clerics of the Naias usually serve the group as a whole, though some focus their worship on a specific Naia. Their clerics wear sandy brown and pray at dawn. And one Ex-member... Chaotic Neutral Domains: Chaos, Luck, Madness God of Luck, Rattajack is completely insane. He is an ex-member of the council, although he neither quit, nor did they expel him. He wanders the planes granting luck, both good and bad, on petty whims. His clergy generally try to tap into his power of luck to improve their lot in life. Unfortunately, a large proportion of his church are as insane as him. His clerics wear any colour, and pray at any time of day. |
| Return of the Flumph05-07-07, 02:01 PM | I suggest you change Marilith's name, or there will be some confusion. Unless he created the mariliths and named them after himself, of course. |
| TimelordSimone05-07-07, 02:09 PM | Second Generation Lawful Good Domains: Good, Law, Scalykind Chaotic Evil Domains: Chaos, Destruction, Evil, Scalykind Chaotic Good Domains: Chaos, Elf, Good, Magic, Music, War Favoured Weapon: Longbow Daughter of Ollamh and Silvanus Tatiana (ignoring the two dragon gods) is the oldest of the second generation of gods. She is the goddess of the arts, and encourages her followers to pursue the arts to the best of their ability. Tatiana is also the cheif deity of the elves, and she crafted them into their current form from their primordial form (a point which Thorin, who created the dwarves from scratch, often brings up). She has a short temper, and levelled an entire forest after Uthgar stole her longsword. Her clerics wear pale green, and pray at dawn. Lawful Neutral Domains: Artifice, Cavern, Dwarf, Earth, Fire, Law Favoured Weapon: Warhammer Son of Marquon and Milon Chaotic Evil Domains: Chaos, Evil, Orc, Strength Favoured Weapon: Longsword Ascended Mortal Lawful Evil Domains: Darkness, Drow, Evil, Law, Spider Son of Ollamh and Tyr Lawful Good Domains: Family, Good, Halfling, Law, Protection Chaotic Neutral Domains: Chaos, Gnome, Time, Travel Son of Sondheim and [original Pally god] Blah Blah True Neutral Domains: Community, Glory, Nobility, Trade Third Generation Lawful Good Domains: Good, Law, Nobility, War Sir Arondight is god of Justice, Honour, Paladins and the like. The original paladin god, [insert name here], dissapeared a few years ago. Sir Arondight ascended to replace him. True Neutral Domains: Charm, Music, Planning, Trickery Jonquil is the god of thieves, revelry, and outcasts. He accepts clerics of all alignments. Jonquil is two ascended mortals. Lyquil was the son of Tatiana and a mortal elf. He was an amazing musician, and was beautiful and charming also. Jonathan was the son of Rattajack and a mortal human. He was an amazing theif. The two recognized each others divinity almost immediately when they first met, and they became travelling companions for a long time. They were killed by a red dragon, during an attempt to steal from his treasure, and the two of them were then granted complete divinity. However, during their ascension, they merged together into one being, naming themselves Jonquil. |
| TimelordSimone05-07-07, 02:48 PM | I suggest you change Marilith's name, or there will be some confusion. Good Idea. And thus, Marquon is born. |
| queenfange05-10-07, 01:54 PM | Out of curiousity, why are many of the names (Cyric, Oghma/Ohgma, Tyr) similar to those from Forgotten Realms? Was that on purpose, and if so, why? |
| TimelordSimone05-10-07, 02:04 PM | Out of curiousity, why are many of the names (Cyric, Oghma/Ohgma, Tyr) similar to those from Forgotten Realms? Was that on purpose, and if so, why? Urm... Laziness. That, and I'm rubbish at names. So... Stealing names seemed like the way forward. |
| queenfange05-10-07, 02:28 PM | Yeah, I'm not great with names myself. However, I've found that looking up obscure mythological names (via books, internet, or wikipedia) and searching for "fantasy name generator" on google yields lots of useful results. |
| TimelordSimone05-12-07, 05:45 PM | :dancin::dancin: I have typed up descriptions for Ohgma's Children. :dancin::dancin: |
| TimelordSimone05-16-07, 05:51 PM | I could not be bothered to type up any more of the above gods. But I wanted to press on with other things. And so... In no specific order... I shall begin posting the countries of our world. (This will all make more sense once the map is up) |
| TimelordSimone05-16-07, 06:19 PM | Spira Is the 'main' continent of the world. Elsewhere To the west lies a vast sea. There are a few small island nations near the mainland. Further east, a new land has recently been discovered. A land of strange gods and customs. New plants and creatures. Rare metals and spices. To the north, past the Durntell mountains, lies World's End. Swirling lights in the sky above a vast nothingness. To the east lie vast mountains. Harsh lands of constant war. Earthquakes and volcanoes. To the south lies desert. Desert, and steppe, and wasteland. ---------------------------------------------- Saints The least powerful gods of the pantheon, each of the countries of Spira has a patron saint. This saint is always an ascended mortal, and the ascension always involves the saint's death. Each of them now live on the material plane, and usually spend most of their time in their country. Their power is directly related to the number of their worshippers. For example: Princess Luthien has a lot of worshippers in Avelorn. She is at her most powerful there. In Lagatia, there are some of her worshippers, and a lot of Finwe's (with whom she is allied), so she is weaker, but still fairly strong. In Eluut, she has hardly any followers, and Gollancz (with whom she is at war) has a lot. She is very weak here. (This is basically to stop the saints charging into enemy lands and slaughtering hundreds of their opponents) |
| TimelordSimone05-16-07, 07:02 PM | Eblan The westernmost country of the Jeraw desert, Eblan is a rich country steeped in tradition. It is ruled by monarchy. Human Street Smart Dreadful Wrath Mercentile Background Twin Sword Style Their patron saint is Prince Edge. Lawful Neutral Domains: Law, Retribution, Trickery Eldest son of the royal family of Eblan, Edge was trained in the martial arts from a young age. As he grew older, he was often sent into enemy lands as a spy. When his parents were killed by an assasin from Araby, he tracked him down, and killed him. He then founded the Eblan ninjas, an organization devoted to protecting the royal family of Eblan from spies, thieves, and assassins. He then died in combat against the very assassin that he had already killed. He has relatively few clerics, and is predominantly worshipped by monks and rogues (and nobles). His clerics wear grey, and pray at dusk. Eblan has a powerful merchant navy, and they trade a great deal with the more civilized areas of the southern lands, and, to a lesser extent, the newly discovered land to the west. I shall write more here. But I am tired. |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:36 PM | Araby Central country of the Jeraw desert, Araby used to be ruled by Janni. Magocracy. Their patron saint is Rubicante. Lawful Evil Domains: Evil, Law, Trickery During a long war with Eblan, Rubicante was sent to assassinate the King and Queen. He suceeded in thsi act, but didn't count on their son tracking him down as he left the country, and he was killed. He then ended up in combat with Edge again, only this time (with his new deific powers) had the upper hand, and won. His clerics wear brown, and pray at noon. |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:37 PM | Eluut Eastern country of the Jeraw desert, Eluut is intolerant of outsiders. Deiocracy Their patron saint (and ruler) is Lord Gollancz Lawful Evil Domains: Evil, Law, Strength Favoured Weapon: Greatsword Clearly the most powerful of all the saints, Gollancz is a pit fiend who originally came to the material plane seeking an ultimate power. He was actually doing pretty well until his downfall at the hands of Finwe and Luthien. The people rejoiced. Until he gatecrashed his successor's coronation. He has since continued to lead his people with an iron fist. His clerics wear crimson and pray at midnight. Eluut is very predominantly human. Most other races are persecuted horribly. (Halflings are not as much) |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:38 PM | Muscadet More wilderness between Eluut, Morheim and Bervenia than a political power in it's own right, Muscadet is a wild land of harsh weather. Tribal. Their Patron Saint is Ormundan Lawful Neutral Domains: Spring Law, Water, Renewal Summer Law, Sun, Liberation Autumn Law, Air, Repose Winter Law, Cold, Suffering His domains change with the seasons. His clerics do not get to rechoose their domains. For example, if a cleric had the Law and Water domains in Spring, they would get Law and Sun in Summer. Similarly, if they had Law and Renewal in Spring, when Summer came round, they would recieve Law and Liberation. |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:38 PM | Morheim |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:39 PM | Bervenia Located north of Muscadet, and east of Avelorn, Bervenia is a wealthy nation of great conflict. Feudalism (Monarchy) Their patron saint is Ohm (however, Ellandra has more worshippers...) Pfft, I'll check all this later... |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:39 PM | Avelorn |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:40 PM | Lagatia |
| TimelordSimone05-23-07, 06:41 PM | Quenelles |
| queenfange05-23-07, 08:19 PM | Hey, I just saw Music domain (yeah, I'm unobservant), and it looks very cool. :) |
| TimelordSimone05-24-07, 01:15 PM | Thanks (It wasn't there originally, I edited it in the other day) There really should be an official music domain. |
