World Creation Template? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-30-08, 09:05 PM Hey everyone! I'm not new to the boards, per se, but I tend to be more of a lurker than a poster.

I've been working for a while on a campaign world, but I've run into a bit of a snag...I don't know how to collect all the information and put it into an easy to read format! Anyone got a template or something that I can plug my stuff into?

I know it's a bizarre request, but I'd like to be able to share my stuff without causing migraines! :D

04-02-08, 03:23 AM That works for one city, but I'm looking a bit more on the "grand" scale of things. I'm trying to design a world, lol. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I honestly thought about taking like the FR book, and basically just typing my stuff down in the format that they use. I know that's kind of lame, but it's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head. Anyone?

04-02-08, 04:16 AM The problem with your request is that there really isn't any hard and fast way to do this because everyone who builds a world does it their own way so what you're really gonna want to do is just try and figure out what works best for you, but if you head over to giantitp.com you can see how he started making a world and try to see if it works for you, i'd link the exact page where he starts the column but that website never seems to work out for me late at night

04-02-08, 02:19 PM I've read (part of) Burlew's world creation process, and I won't lie, I'd forgotten about it until you mentioned it. I might have to give that another gander and see if I can work something into that. Thanks for the idea, bud.

And yeah, I know everyone does things differently, typically, and while I've got a good creative streak going on this world, I just can't seem to spit them out in a cohesive fashion. We'll see what I can come up with, though. Thanks again.
